Advice on which breakdown recovery service to choose

Hi all,

Need to get myself covered should the worst happen. Usual candidates such as the RAC and AA being considered. What company and package would you recommend? Car is used mainly for recreational purposes. I would want it to go to a garage of my choosing for any repair work and the company must be well equipped with flat bed trucks so I don't have to wait hours for recovery just because I can't be towed.

Cheers for any advice offered.

I live in a multi car house hold so I dont need home start as there is always another car to take, I went for AA roadside and relay for both me and my girlfriend. We pay £130.50 a year.
No complaints at all, I am sure there is cheaper out there but I was impressed that when my girlfriend broke down on the phone they asked if she was a lone female when they found out she was someone was with her in 20 minutes.

What kind of breakdown are you having ?? Nervous, communication :Suspiciou

I have been with both RAC, AA , Greenflag etc. I think they are all pretty much the same, though ask BOBT what he thinks as he works for the AA

For me it would be AA or RAC. Green Flag, I'm lead to believe don't try to fix much. :)

I'm an AA Patrol so obviously I'm biased to the yellow side! If you want to join, PM me and I'll get someone to call you...let me know what you're after and I'll see what I can do ;)

Brittannia all the way ...................

But, they are now owned by Liverpool and Victoria - so, expect it to deteriate :(

RAC were fine for me for years until they were bought out.
Then suddenly 9 years of subscription was not renewed!

I have since rejoined, but on getting my renewal, my 10% discounted renewal is £50 a year more than if I just re-join.

Comtemplating if I even want cover now.

I get limited Greenflag cover with my bank account anyway, so might just stick with that.
Limited mileage on recovery though, and not sure what the excess mileage is charged at.

ADAC plus

Its german but at €79.50 a year you get european cover included, you are covered not the car and when in UK the AA turn up.
