Feeling very slow and not happy with this:(

"What have they got that my my98 doesn't have?"

Errrm... about an extra 60bhp as standard.
Plus with just breathers they can run over 300.

:D

An EVO 6 pulled away from me only very slowly on a dual carriageway. At the time my MY '00 was totally standard.

He seemed to be trying, judging by how his car dipped and lifted when he changed gear.

I thought Scooby's were ugly though :D:D:D:D:D

Have had a high speed run in with an EVO6 in my STi4 recently.
Absolutely nothing in it from 20/30mph right through to three figure speeds :)
Think he expected to waste me & seemed surprised he couldn't put any distance between us.

When my EVO5 was standard I had a run in with an STi4 (non typeR) on a quiet stretch of motorway and there was nothing in it, we could not pull away from each other (the top speeds are about the same) A standard scooby with 220-240bhp would IMO would fall behind fairly easily. The thing is EVO's are very easy to tune and lots of them show nearly 300 Bhp from standard. With a full exhaust / filter and slight boost tweek you can easily release another 20-30 Bhp.

With these mods mine has been RR'ed showing 333 Bhp. You can find it at:

Had a ride in one on Thursday (thanks Warped Chris) and it was a lot faster than a standard turbo or WRX but thats to be expected (even with 2 passengers). It powers out of corners very well and the most noticeable thing was the lack of noise until you approach the redline and change up. Cruising at 80mph on the A14 it was barely louder than my 1.6 primera. Of course if you want the noise then that can be a problem. Chris gave us totally unbiased info on the Evo 6 and agreed with most peoples views about the way the standard brakes just get eaten.

Its a very nice car and when it comes down to choosing a P1/Sti7/Evo6/7 then I think the main choice is down to the individual and mainly on looks as they are pretty much identical performance wise and each car does something better than the other. If I was earning enough to afford the Evo servicing I might be tempted to get one as they look awesome!

Had a run in with a very nice looking evo 5, but I dont think the driver was to happy when the scoob kept up with him.

I looked @ an evo 7 while @ sgt having my scoob serviced... I could just about afford to buy it (just) but the running costs r a joke 4500 service intervals are not something you should put on "road" car. Superior to the scoob but my westi is even better :D

They do sound like hairdryers though :D

mozzaITA 08 March 2002 10:27 AM

hmmm, by the sound of it u scooby owners are sort of over the moon to be able to keep up with an evo, i think u know that they are superior dont u guys???!!! hahahaha

Looks wise i'll take the evo everyday of the week over any scooby!!!!! performance wise i would too, there are wikkid scoobies like the sti/p1/wrx r/22b but the evos start at 280 bhp not anything less!!!

I want an Evo but might only be able to get a impreza as evos are more money :(.. might get a boring M3 but i luv ralley cars so maybe not. Whatever i'll get it will be better than my Corrado thats for sure!

Don't like to nit-pick but didn't the original EVO 'only' have 250BHP, then the EVO II had 260BHP? It was only with the EVO IV that we got to the gentlemens 276BHP wasn't it?

Still no denying, it is a good car in the current kit. It's just that the 40l tank and 4,500 mile services don't exactly make it practical for the every day driver.

But I don't like to nit pick :D:D:D

Evo 4/5/6/7 are the only evo's to go for in my opinion, i know the 1/2/3 had less power but the 4 is when it got good in my opinion!!!

You look under your car to see how big your fuel tank is??:p;)

g man 09 March 2002 06:19 PM

RESPECT THE EVO.....HE HE....

Claudius 11 March 2002 12:50 AM

Evo 6: 50l tank
Evo 7: 48l tank

I change the oil in my Evo 6 every 3000 miles.

The Evo is superior to any Subaru Performance wise (track times and accelerations from whatever to whatever). Subaru is better quality / built.
