Try a boat chandler, they use chain on anchors.

Yep - any Chandlery should do some. Mine stocks massive chains.

I hear Stevebt has some pretty hefty chains around his neck.

or just hang around any of the ghetto's and offer to buy some of the bling on show :D

Moved our boat to it's new mooring yesterday. I had just had an ale and SO nearly fell in. I also bottomed out the prop on some mud. That'll teach me to try singlehanded boat driving after going to the pub...

Hope the engine did not get choked up!

Engine was fine - literally just "brushed" the bottom with the prop (which is fine) and so I cut the power straight away. It's a robust unit - starts first time even when left for months. A rare bit of good US engineering (Mercury)!

Glad to hear it was ok , its a hell of a game clearing the mud out if you are unlucky.

It would need a fairly major grounding for that - intakes are a good 6" above the lowest part of the prop arm. Still a bit daft of me though - damn currents grabbed the boat and flicked it around. Still - I was moving it from our old "inside" pontoon mooring (no good up to 1.5-2 hours either side of low tide) to one further out - now all tides are fine - very very handy!
