Why not to hit yourself in the eye with a sledge hammer lol, also after medical advice

Evening all :)
Was at work today do the usual thing...
As a truck tyre fitter we use a 8lb sledge hammer with the handle sawn down to 12 inch to break tyre beads,
well today i was swinging away and the head of the hammer decaided to come off and hit me in the eye lol
I thought nowt of it and carried on with my other hammer until i couldn't see,
Blood everywhere,

Treated myself with the first aid kit I keep on my van and had to leave the job...
Still debating weather to go to the hospital or not,
Is there anything they can do?

Its not bleeding now (think i ran out of blood lol) but its about 5mm deep and an inch long...
Will it be alright if i just leave it?

Cheers

Couple of butterfly stiches me thinks, good shot though!

Kieran_Burns 31 March 2009 08:51 PM

Stitches for certain. Get yourself over there and don't drive, get a lift

Go to hospital. A heavy blow to the head should be checked out.
The fact you have not gone already indicated you may already have been knocked stupid lol.

Serious though, go get it checked out.

Sideways Ste 31 March 2009 08:56 PM

lol it didn't actually feel like i hit it,
I thought i'd just caught it,
then i saw the cut and blood,
I feel totally fine otherwise

The hospital is only down the road from me so might have a walk down later,
Can't have a scar wrecking ma pretty face :p

Cheers

Maybe whack a fresh wedge back in to stop the bugger coming off again

No a scratch is what my cat did to me this morning. That is a slight flesh wound as you can see 'flesh' though not the kind us blokes like to glimpse :D

Glad to see you are ok.
Now you can remove that pic. Am not amused at the length of your eyelashes. They look longer than the ones most of us wimmins have
