Classic & Newage BHP/FT/LB??
Folks, was just pondering in my head..:o:lol1: waht power would a newage car need to be to match a 350/350 classic?? AND i don,t mean up a strip, on track etc cus that,s dependent on driver skill, i just mean because of weight issues AND your normal joe-bloggs driver
Would i be right in saying about 400bhp?? :wonder::wonder: |
It's awkward, I chased a type-r, he was quicker on acceleration, I could brake miles later than he could, both cars about standard.... However with mods it's impossible to tell apart from who has the bigger cahones ?
Mine has lots of mods, and may be as quick as a classic at that level, but I would guess mine feels more planted and safe, opposed to a frisky and scary classic. HTH dunx P.S. Weight difference is around 15 % ? So yep about 400 bhp, a 2 litre is only likely to make the same torque if forged imho. |

Have to agree, my old blobeye with 315bhp could out brake and out handle my 305bhp classic(my current car) but my classic is in a different league for straight line performance even 10bhp down on my old blobeye. My classic is so more raw, and as you already put it you feel more safe and planted in the newage, where as the classic scares the **** out of me even as a pretty much standard-ish car!!!
Agree. My old twin scroll JDM STI V-Limited was running 365bhp & 374lbs ft and was quick. I now have a standard Version 4 type R and it feels even quicker and lot more raw in the way the power is delivered. |
A mate of mine has a 93 wrx running 330bhp and my hawkeye has 370bhp, both figures recorded on powerstations rollers on the same day, and my car has the edge on mid range and alot more top end.
|
I can only speak for my car, so for my 1400kg Spec C I would have to be around the 390bhp mark & a similar or higher ft/lb of torque?? (As compared to a 1250kg classic with 350/350 power)
|
ps Pete what are up to, you only sold your classic the other day!
|
Wow so what would you need to run in a newage to compare with a 450bhp 480 ft P1? Which is what I hope to end up with when I have my engine done

P2W only plays a small part in this, for instance, a standard v5 type r isnt as quick doing a 1/4 mile as a standard (my03 spec c) doing the same 1/4 mile, yet the classic is lighter and boasts around the same power. Most people also forget that aerodynamics play a part ;) I had a P1 try it on years ago with my Spec C, he couldnt overtake me (though was behind so had a slight advantage of drag) yet i couldnt pull that much away, and both cars were all of 10bhp difference in theory. how much would it cost to get a newage hawkeye up to 500bhp taking into it that all work would be done by a company not me for example

well lets see if they are kind enough to jump in here and give thief two bits worth, or pm me a rough guide. I have been quoted anywhere from 9-12k for the engine work on the p1 that's for everything lump, turbo, injectors, fmic, detailing, baffled sump etc all supplied new parts and fitted. I would asume it would be close for a newage
