gas barbecue
MY missus has just got one for 30.00 are they any good?
i understand that it may have lava rocks in it as well. any opinions/hints/tips appreciated. |
I bought one a couple of years back and used it over the summer. Easy to light and use, controllable temperature, evenly cooked food . . . boring as hell, sold it and bought a real barbeque. Much more fun :D

I always viewed these things as not true to the whole experience of a barbeque ..... until I bought one!
Never looked back .... I take disposables away with me if eating while out somewhere - I'm always glad to be back to my Gas example :thumb: |
right knowing andrea, i bet it will be rubbish.
|
Bet it's got no Regulator with it ...... or Gas Bottle!

they aren't really BBQ's end off.

At the end of the day you can't beat charcoal for the heat it gives off and the flavour it imparts to the food......
However I've got a gas one and for the convenience it's great. No question of whether to BBQ or not now throughout the summer, if I get home from work, the weather is nice, and I fancy chilling in the garden with a few beers, cooking some nice grub its ace. Just fire it up, let it warm for a few mins, cook and turn it off again. No hassle :D The lava rock is good as this is the bit that gets hot so that when the fat drips out of the food onto the rocks it still smokes and imparts some of that BBQ flavour onto the food. For camping and special occasions though it's charcoal all the way. |
We have both, the gas one is OK for boiling the spuds and keeping the BBQ sauce warm but no bloody use for cooking food, it's too slow and tastes like it's been cooked in a frying pan in doors..
