Does anyone make alloy bells and disks for the Subaru 4-pots?

I know Godspeed do them, is there anyone else?

Beastie 27 February 2002 03:29 PM

Do you also know that Godspeed do a 335mm conversion for the Subaru 4 pots as well as the 294mm disc.
Im looking at it just now at price of 550 quid including pads/bells/brackets & rotors.

Just to mention i have that 335mm upgrade fitted to mine and they are a massive improvement over the standard chocolate discs and pads, fade is non existant even on multiple high speed stops :D Brake dust is a bit of a bugger tho

I have the Godspeed standard size discs and bells, they work very well, although I have to say the the discs have small cracks all over them, I have e-mailed Ian about this, and he said it was normal, I would add that I am a pretty hard user of brakes, I would have had the bigger kit if I had 17's, sods law, I've now got 17's, but won't be able to justify the extra cash.

That is the only problem with going on track days is you get small heat cracks in the discs , doesn't matter whose discs you have fitted , track days = small heat cracks . Ian

DMB, how do you reckon your conversion stands up against those that have a changed calliper as well. Seems to me that should the Godspeed conversion you have be up to the job, then why spend the extra on new callipers when you can use your own.

Stuart , The 335mm kit to use with the standard Subaru 4 pot calipers is as good as an 330mm AP kit , without the cost , we have tried them back to back ,But you do need 17" wheels to fit them , Cheers , Ian

Ian, is that as good in stopping as well as fade resistance?

Godspeed Brakes 28 February 2002 12:19 PM

Stopping abillity is good because of the size of the discs , fade restistant because of the thickness of the discs (32mm) which keeps the heat down and a good pad which is much bigger than either the standard size subaru and AP pad . We supply the Mintex M1144 pads with the kit , Cheers , Ian

Better get myself some 17s then!

RON 28 February 2002 06:56 PM

Ian,
I take your point re; trackdays, or at least I would had I done any! but like I said, I am hard on brakes, maybe I shouldn't drive so fast!

Ian how much for front 335 bells+rotors+brackets (I have Mintex 1155 all around) and a proportional combination rear?
