VF30

Hi All,
Can anyone please tell me if a VF30 is a direct bolt on (hoses/pipework etc) on a version 3 STI (97)??
Also, is it a better turbo to have than a VF28 in terms of spool up time and top end?

Thanks,
Imran

Yes, all VF series turbos for the Impreza are front entry AFAIK, so it will slot straight into MY97-00 cars, or v.3-6 STi's, retaining your original intake hose, etc.

Are either of them actually significantly better than your std fit VF23, though?!

Thanks for that.

I dont know about anyone else but i found the VF28 to be more responsive than the VF23 - faster spool and seems to hold boost longer over the rev range.....

What about the VF35 (or the roller-bearing version, the VF34)? These are a common upgrade for VF-equpped Classics. For good reason - they're good for upto 350bhp and have decent low down spool. If your goal is upto this sort of level, then go for it. Or how about an early TD05H 16g converted to front entry - prob an all round better/cheaper option than the VF35. A tougher turbo with similar spool-up point... and many reckon it pulls that bit harder than the VF35 in the upper reaches, to the redline

Or if you have the dosh, get a TD05 18g or HS380 - these will defo go beyond 350, and pull like the veritable train. They'll more than meet your requirements.
