Speed aware courses.

Yup, I have been photo'd at 58mph in a 50 limit on the roadworkd on the M25,
reading the guidelines it looks as if its 3 points and a £60 fine,
I have read about the speed aware courses and I was wondering,
under what circumstances are these courses offered, i.e. can you ask ? or are they something that is offered as a matter of course, I have been driving for 36 years min of 25000 miles a year and these are my first points in 12 years , I am such a failure ! my 1mph over the limit deserves a sentance of death.:cuckoo:

it all depends whether the district you got caught in does speed awareness courses

e.g. Dorset does them (i know coz was offered one there, 46 in a 40)
but Cambridgshire does not offer them full stop, so even if you had 50yrs of clean motoring you would get points

If you are only picking them up every 12 years, then maybe just pay the fine.
My experience though, is that these things tend to come in threes.;)

No wonder you've kept your nose clean for the last 12 years.
I haven't picked up anything for a similar amount of time. But then I did spend three years driving around with 10 points.
A very salutory situation to be in.

Once had 13 points on 4 seperate counts, didnt get a ban due to a technicality, my fourth offence I went to court before the third office so they could not tot me up ! lucky !
