it's a very smart car indeed and has obviously had lots of work put in to it and for that you should be applauded, but i think you should have stayed away from the graphics, i know you wanted to help your freind at mocom and thats should also be applauded but they just dont suit the car imho.

good work other than that and i love the red painted exhaust wrap on the headers and uppipe, keep it coming.

Also vote for the roof vent...:norty:

stoneface 11 March 2008 07:22 PM

Nice choice mods and a good write up :thumb:

Prasius 11 March 2008 07:46 PM

ROOF VENT!!

;)

I so wish I had the nerve to do it to mine! :(

Robbieben 11 March 2008 07:52 PM

Cracking reading, impressive work with the pillar pod and steering column cowl:)

dnc 11 March 2008 08:40 PM

Frayz, you are a very modest guy..............I really think that does look better than a 22b and I'll bet it goes like stink too. I do think the graphics are a step backwards though; they look fine, but the original 'plain' motor was f****n perfection.

Lookin forward to next updates

Roof Vent.... Roof Vent.... Roof Vent :lol1:

Your a braver man than me that's for sure :thumb:

I know we have watched this evolve over time Frayz but listed like this it's quite frightening to see the hours you have spent planning and working on the project, and there's still lots more to come along :D

Round 7

14 Attachment(s)
Okay guys, here we go...

It had been playing on my mind as to wether to do the roof vent or not? Did i really have the minerals to cut a hole in my cars roof?
Once again, i bit the bullet and ordered the parts from Graham @ Japanparts.com. He supplied me all the relevant parts to install the vent. I gave Graham my paint code and the vent was painted in the Subaru factory in Japan.
Sure enough, a week or 2 later, the full kit arrived.

Inspired by some of the hardcore on the NASIOC.com i set about cutting the roof. I have very few pictures of my own install due to me being more concentrated than ever.
Here are a few that i did take.

Obviously one or 2 of my close friends decided to get in on the act and let me cut their roofs too. Heres me fitting MADDOG's one.

Its one thing running a Dremel through your own roof but when its someone elses car... its a damn good buzz :D

If anybody is genuinely interested in doing this. I have written a full documented step by step guide for the SIDC Scoobypedia.

It can be found here.

Next round is the carbon round :D

Silver Scooby Sport 11 March 2008 08:56 PM

I've broken into a nervous sweat reading that :freak3:

As said well done on that mod Frasier it could go horribly wrong without care time and attention to detail :thumb:

KJD Mk1 11 March 2008 09:28 PM

beef-on-the-bone 11 March 2008 09:50 PM

how much was the vent kit from subaru????

would they still stock classic fitment???

frayz 11 March 2008 09:55 PM

This kit is approx £250 deliverd to the UK inc VAT + Duty.

I have no idea how much or if they do one for the classic still.

But, yes id do more vent installs as its one of the most enjoyable mods to do in my opinion.

Just as MADDOG and Tiny if they like theirs :D

Where?

i think im going mad, i sat and read this thread from start to finish yesterday and there was some problem with a supplier of high tempreture paint which was taking ages to sort out, then a tin was found and the headers and downpipe were wrapped and painted in it leaving them bright red, i must have seen it on another thread somewhere and got mixed up somehow, still a very nice car though.

frayz 12 March 2008 10:20 AM

Stay tuned for round 8 coming up soon :norty:

Frayz, quality thread mate :)

frayz 12 March 2008 10:46 AM

i have to say what a project, i ahev beem a owner for a few years and i have to say the attention to detail is fantastic. and i will second the above statements it has to be one of the nicest bugeyes i have seen.

can i just ask you mate you mention

''The car promtly went back to Mocom shortly after for the fitting of a TD05 20g turbocharger, 800cc injectors, Fuelab FPR, a bespoke 80mm wing mounted intake and some more map time. This saw the car with a healthy 303bhp and 272lbs at the wheels.''

surley with all the other mods, heat wrapping etc etc shoudl you have not seen a load more than this, or is there a reason for this that i have missed in the read?

but big thumbs up to you cracking car

steve

I trouble is mate, people get wrapped up in over inflated figures from what they read on forums.

Thats why with even my latest string of engine mods, i dont even know what power its putting out.

Im not in to bragging figures, i'll stop when the car feels fast enough to me. Remember those figure i quoted was at the wheels.
