Boiler help

Got my boiler serviced and since then it makes like a howling noise..

Like its not quite lighting... everything works fine, heats ok..

Makes me a bit on edge.. the fella did it as a side thing... when he was doing other work.. but I have come back as he was scared his boss would find out...

Any thoughts?

if it doubt get him back mate cant be to carefull id always rather a customer ring me back if they even think theres a problem
is it a fairly modern boiler maybe just the fan vibrating on the case ?
try touching ur hand against the front or sides see if it stops (might be hot be careful)

No fans .. 20 minutes.. just used hoover and some wire wool .. said it was sealed unit so only bugs from the flue could get in .. no dust ?

paulwrxboro 26 March 2009 01:01 AM

20 mins is ok
you mean it has no fan or never took fan out ?
lol if bugs can get in so can dust, but thats why you hoover
what boiler make is it ?

probably just a lose cover screw , call him and ask him to come back if you dont want to look for it
wer is the boiler ?kitchen ? bedroom? loft ?

pimmo2000 26 March 2009 10:23 AM

It didn't have any fans that I could see .. its under the stairs .. the make is Ariston..

Calling him back would be difficult as it was a foreigner and his boss doesn't know ..

paulwrxboro 26 March 2009 11:58 PM

call the boss and tell him there is a problem with the original thing he come out to do
he will probably send the same fella, nobody likes to fix other peoples mistakes

Was the chap who carried out the service a qualified person to do so or just a 'job on the side' ?
If not qualified then get a proper service engineer in to do the job properly.

I wouldn't mess with gas.

Cheers

Brian

Its the front cover.. I removed it and the little clips the screws go into have broken off, only one holding it on, started it up and no noise. Where do I get new clips?

Yeah he was fully qualified.

pimmo2000 27 March 2009 02:52 PM

I cant find these little clips anywhere ... been to 6 different DIY places !!

Any ideas?
