If you want bang for buck (and great spool / driveability) just stick the LM400 on (with a remap of course) with everything else OEM.

LM450 needs other items to suit (FMIC, injectors, Induction Kit etc etc)

Think thats what im going for when i decide to upgrade cheers all,Thanks shaun.

Russia's finest Vodka in the tank? Should give the turbo some pep! :D

apac 17 August 2012 05:16 PM

why not get a dual map done and add 20% methanol for one of the maps?

Ilya 18 August 2012 01:32 PM

first the LM goes back in and than we see

Shaun 18 August 2012 02:22 PM

Ilya,
Who is telling you 2ron will make 1000-1500rpm spool difference? I think they need to stop drinking it and start putting it in their tanks! :D

With regards to fuels, I'm not sure you can come up with general conclusions that the better the fuel the quicker the spool. You may actually find the opposite!

i absolutely see what you are saying, but the thing is that in RUS petrol station do not sell real 98 ron, it is 95 with some additives, and the result is ****ty petrol. so guys are not saying 2 ron will make such difference in principle I think, but that 98 ron that is sold in Moscow is of poor quality. for u guys it is simple, u go to shell and buy 98 and u get 98, here it is a different story. i remember i re-fuelled on the very first petrol station of the ferry in Germany, and it felt that my car was re-mapped or something, real difference. so guys are saying in order to be able to compare results u have on shell 98 and i here on our 98, i need to get some decent petrol to start with

johnfelstead 19 August 2012 05:04 PM

As of April this year the fuel sold by Gazprom Neft from it's Moscow refinery meets all Euro 4 standards, so it cant be that crap.

johnfelstead 19 August 2012 05:10 PM

and even if you only had 95RON fuel, spool wont be that affected, certainly not the amount you are claiming.

Maybe you could sumerise your full engine spec, because something doesnt add up.

harvey 20 August 2012 12:00 AM

The difference from 95 to V-Power might credibly be 100 to 150 RPM in spool to 1 bar.
Are you sure someone does not have the shakes on the keyboard accounting for an extra 0? Sounds like too much Vodka. :)

Ilya 20 August 2012 10:21 AM

because I am no expert I take part in this forum 4 advice, so I hear what u are saying :( I just had my hopes up

my engine is stock 2.0 JDM 06 spec C Ra
fujitsubo exh man + decat Milltek
air filter

and my billet LM400 spools to 1 bar at 4000rpm in fourth
the strange thing is that my original vf36 spoools as it is supposed to
so atm I am open to any suggestions, even the ones I shared few posts back :)

johnfelstead 20 August 2012 01:18 PM

Put the stock headeers back on the car!

TimH 20 August 2012 01:28 PM

Will second that - I used lateral/tomei/kakomoto type headers on my 2.5 twinscroll build at first, thinking they would be better. Bad move as they completely killed spool. Refitted OEM twinscroll headers and all was good again.

i thought of that, but why do these headers support decent spool on vf36?

johnfelstead 20 August 2012 03:24 PM

Vf36 spools quite a bit faster than the lm400, so the effect of slow gas speed won't be as noticable.

Best twin scroll headers by far are the stock items, you always see worse spool using aftermarket.

Time for another update and time for more LM power related goodness please. ;)

Bit of a revisit to this thread but has anyone had their LM turbo sent back for upgrading say from a LM400 billet to a LM450 billet?

I have fired off various emails to Litchfield Imports and never got an answer, called them and no return calls.

I'd really like to get a costing on this as my car is off the road for a while and will be having the Simtek/Alcatek upgrade plus a Toucan and sensors fitted, so now would be the ideal time for get it all done together.

£195 + delivery + vat.

Just had an LM450 upgraded, it cost £316 Including vat, delivery and a repair to the actuator.

You're also better of dealing with Turbo Dynamics directly. I did and they were very helpful.

Twin Scroll vs Twin Entry

5 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone,

I am an avid Twin Scroll Fan and had the chance to own several Twin Scroll Turbos.

I read the first couple of pages and saw that there was a discussion about:

Twin SCROLL vs Twin ENTRY

Kindly allow me to clear everything up.

Based on my findings, the HKS 2835 Twin "Scroll" Turbo is actually Twin ENTRY.

The HKS Exhaust housing does not have the same dividing scrolls from your VF Twin Scroll Turbos.

Pics below will explain everything.

Comparison is between HKS 2835 Twin "Scroll" and VF53 Twin Scroll Turbo.

Notice in the last pic, where my finger is able to go through the 2 ports of the HKS Twin "Scroll" Turbo.

Hence, it is evident that the HKS turbo is Twin ENTRY.

That being said, I have not seen any conclusive evidence of the Litchfield LM400/420/450 Twin "Scroll" Unit.

Would anyone like to share if the Litchfield Unit is a True Twin Scroll or Twin ENTRY?

Cliff notes: HKS Twin "Scroll" Turbo is actually Twin ENTRY as it does not have the dividing scrolls like the VF36/37/49/53 Twin Scroll Turbo.

It's all about those volutes! ;)
