nearly dropped down dead when they told me!

just gone to kwik fit to get brakes checked as i can hear grinding noise, they tell me
i'm touching metal almost, not long b4 they explode he joked!!
your disks need replacing too! ALL OF THEM ARE CRAP
i've only had car 5 months from dealership in shrewsbury, not brand new but still
payed enuff so expect it to be ok.

ok mate run me a quote up please & we'll arrange for it to be done, i said!

£1050! where the fook did they come up with that quote???

i said do i have tw*t written cross my head, to which he replied they are genuine subaru parts
guaranteed for life (well as long as i own car!!)
came home & i rang up dealer where i bought car from, never told them the quote price, he came back to
me 10 mins later, as a good will gesture as i not had car long from them, the parts are trade price & not full charge for labour,£495.
so she's in workshop tonight, possibly collect tomorrow night if i get home from work early enough! otherwise weekend! (boo hoo)

I just cannot work out where the hell kwik fit gets there prices from???? http://subaru-central.com/forum/imag...es/assault.gif

DJ_Jon 11 March 2009 06:42 PM

They are robbing c**t's, that is how they come up with those sorts of prices. £495 including fitting sounds like a very fair price

TurboAndy 11 March 2009 06:46 PM

Kwik fit are a rip off.

There are alot of people on here dont use them.

Glowplug 11 March 2009 06:49 PM

Kwik Fit are 2ats mate :hjtwofing
I came out to a flat tyre , as KF is at the top of our road i crawled in for some air, the lad started to inflate the tyre then shouted his mate over saying 'av you seen this disc' o yeah its shagged he says. By this time we can hear air coming from the inside of the rim so he looks behind and then tells me my tyre is shot too:eek:
Turns out the leak was on the balance weight but because i refused to let them quote me for discs and tyres he said they didn't have time to look at the leak, to$$ers:sleep: Stuck 2 bar in it and its been fine:thumb:
Fcuk um:)

HT04 11 March 2009 06:51 PM

wow. my mate paid £1000 at a subaru dealer to have all his brakes done.

My first question is why the hell were you in KF anyway. I wouldn't let them near my car if you paid me. Bunch of fcukwits!

Another thought that occurs to me is that unless you've done significant mileage i'd have thought that the main dealer is being a bit naughty charging you for the parts at all. Was it a ubaru main agent? And if so i can only assume that it was an approved used car. Sounds a bit tight to be charging you if you ask me.

Can they say this? Surely they are only the same as the originals therefore the originals must be guaranteed for life too?

yeah it was!
i put same post up on another scooby site to be told i should pay £1000 out every six months for value for money!!
WTF?????? planet cookoo!!!:hjtwofing

936ADL 11 March 2009 07:42 PM

£1000 every six months on brakes!!!!! WTF is he doing with his car.

I'm just in the process of changing the rear discs and pads on '04 wr after nearly 50,000 miles. cost £125 from as performance.

The front end has the Prodrive/Alcon conversion and to replaced the discs(from Ian at Godspeed) and pads(DS2500s) was only £500.

tanyatriangles 11 March 2009 07:46 PM

I would personally prefer to take my car to Dewhursts rather than KwikFit:
thieving robbing know nothings.

Ask for a tyre price, they want you to tell them the best price you've been quoted so THEY CAN MATCH IT:mad:
Fcuk off, if they can only MATCH it, why not go to the person who quoted first?

SC008Y_MAD 11 March 2009 08:09 PM

I would not let kwikfit pit air in my tyres

TurboAndy 11 March 2009 08:43 PM

I seam to rember there being a programe on TV some time back about kwik Fit conning people.

I carnt beleave how much people charge for doing brakes. I put a new set of discs and pads on for a friend of mine and it only took me 2 hours and that was on the street not using a lift or any thing just a car jack. New disc and pads only cost them £200.

Its their latest 'get you in ad' they are saying they will replace for free if they wear out whilst you own the car:cuckoo: Knowing that OE discs will out live the period that most people own the car for, if that makes sense :thumb:

MrNoisy 12 March 2009 10:31 AM

Kwik Fit? More like Kwik - F**k up my car
I had a mate at work who knew nothing about cars - asked me to nip to Kwik Fit to get some new front tyres for his Festa. Now let's face it - these should be cheap as chips - yet Kwik Fit quoted £80 per tyre for firestones!
Rang up my local tyre place - £45 per corner for Toyo T1R's - guess what he has now lol.
I don't understand anyone in their right mind who would ever go to Kwik Fit - they are truly sh*te

escott 12 March 2009 01:57 PM

They make money from people who don't know any better. People assume that because they see KF everywhere, they are reliable and trustworthy, when in reality you are probably far better off going to a local no-chain specialist who has been around for a while, as they probably get most of their business from repeat customers and recommendations.

To the original poster - Kwik Fit are a rip-off, main dealers for most brands are not great either, you can generally get better parts for the same price as original equipment.

M444GY 12 March 2009 05:43 PM

my scoob would not even grace the forecourt of a kwic fit bodge center

David Taylor 16 March 2009 04:06 PM

Took mine to main dealer for last service and 1st MOT before warranty ran out. Cost £850 including new front pads and discs at 19k! Been back with brakes cos they are still rubbish after 3 months. Full check and they tell me Subaru pads are never as good as original factory ones. Well clearly the original discs were too! Still not happy,. feels like a Moggy 1000 now

my06 ppp silver 16 March 2009 08:11 PM

intresting claypole 55, i also bought my sti from hyltons (i take it ) in nov, and my front pads need replacing already, coincidently i also had to replace my rear tyres cos of geometry setup, they fixed geometry but not replaced tyres. as with front pads they told me nothing was flagged up on their checks when it left them so they aint responsible. maybe we should talk more pm if intrested.
