Just got back off holiday and went back to travel agents to cash in my left over Euro travellers cheques, WHAT A RIP-OFF, taking into account the exchange rate at buying and selling, thier commission, and the cost of converting cheques abroad into cash its cost all together about £60 on £400 worth of cheques, i also used the credit card and that wont cost me a fraction of that.
Use your credit card is my advice.
Commission free my arse to buy it was 1.56 and to sell back was 1.74 = RIP OFF

Why not just keep them until you go abroad again?

If you are in Euroland try just using your normal cashcard (Switch, Delta, Link etc) as there shouldn't be any charge for this and the exchange rate is excellent.

I found the bank to be cheaper than the travel agents..

Most places will take credit card now though I believe.

Just keep them mate. Now it's a single currency across most of Europe, you're more than equipped to go when you want.

If you use them over next few trips then think of it of how much money you've saved. (Comissions each time from £->Euros)

Spose I could of kept them to use again, but I know for next time, thing is ive never added all this up before just done it and never thought about it. Suppose its all part of the tavel agent con.

Used to get travellers cheques, but the last few (10+) years I have used only cash or plastic when abroad..... find it so much better, cash for relatively small purchases plastic for hotels/ fuel/ big purchases.
