Bring Back the old Site Search!

Bring Back the old Site Search! as the new one is rubish :brickwall Hope this will be fixed because I love using this site it has helped me so many times:)

Just type in DCCD and see the crap it brings up! This is no good if it was not broke why fix it!

DJ Dunk 03 March 2009 11:21 AM

Typing DCCD into the search results in threads containing the words 'DCCD' . . . shocking ;)

Care to elaborate?

SC008Y_MAD 03 March 2009 11:22 AM

I just tried to search for 'importing an impreza' and all I got was a load of thread with nothing to do with importing an impreza.

DJ Dunk 03 March 2009 11:29 AM

It seems it's picking up 'Import' when searching for 'Importing'

IB Adrian 03 March 2009 01:35 PM

Try putting your phrase in like this:
"importing an impreza"
(with the quotation marks)

Hope that helps :)

SC008Y_MAD 03 March 2009 01:51 PM

i'll try that.

Any feedback for us?

DJ Dunk 03 March 2009 02:59 PM

Still seems to be bringing back 'import' rather than 'importing'

I tried the usual variations such as: importing AND impreza; +importing +impreza; "importing impreza" with the same sort of results.

GC8 03 March 2009 03:22 PM

Please dont alter the search! After it became a %age related result 'provided by IB' it became worse than useless. This is similar to SN's original search and it is far superior.

Further to that, you need more than 25 posts to have an opinion that counts noob ;)

DJ Dunk 03 March 2009 04:13 PM

I see your sense of humour bypass was a success :lol1:

Try searching for "dccd" "rolling road" including the quotes for a better result.

I much prefer this search engine but one problem seems to be that it doesn't bring up any posts older than february 20th 2009?

scalesy 03 March 2009 10:02 PM

The sad thing is all the years of top info cant be found using the search this is a big loss to the site and members in my eyes hope things get better as it no good to man or beast this way I tried to do a search for what Oil to use in a Dccd Gearbox and no relevant results :brickwall

Search for "oil" "dccd" in the Drivetrain forum and you'll see plenty of relevant info back as far as 2003.

I don't know who you emailed, but you should be able to post in Private For Sale General with no problems. You cannot, however, post in 'Cars For Sale' without an additional subscription (Plus membership or For Sale membership).
