if you have a 97 car as your name suggests you cannot remap the ecu, version 3 & 4 need an aftermarket ecu. hope this is of help.

Your question is confusing: the Commander is an add-on for an A'PEXi PowerFC ECU. The A'PEXi Coommander isnt a stand alone device.

As stated, the OEM ECU cant be 're-mapped'; so replacement is your only option (unless ESL/Scott Taylor have made some progress).

so what does the commander do?

Ive been looking at similar. Seems there are a few apexi' ecu's going.

are they dual map, and mafless etc?

Andy F seems to be able to do one including a map for 800 quid.. ?

The commander is a plug in for the ecu which allows you to change settings and monitor stuff.
The ECU is all you need but I also got the commander and it was pretty cool

Ecu on the left, commander on the right

Andy Forest and Simon Roe used to offer very similar prices, so Id expect that they still do. Simon will be able to offer the PowerFC without the Commander if you wish.

scoobyc 25 February 2009 08:58 PM

are these dual map do you know?

Fantom 25 February 2009 09:04 PM

As far as I know its one map only

mike h 25 February 2009 09:07 PM

one map, but if you have the boost control kit then you will be able to switch between 4 boost settings.

Peanuts 26 February 2009 07:39 AM

or buy an avcr to control the boost as the vast majority do

For a bit more you could get the simtek - isn't that dual map - and ALS :)

New_scooby_04 26 February 2009 10:19 AM

^^^ Was just about to say, sure better to pay a bit more and get Simtek, now?

EddScott 26 February 2009 10:24 AM

Its what I'll be getting anyway. Haven't even managed to buy another Impreza yet (having missed out on 2 in as many days :( ) and have an alarmingly expensive wishlist already.
