Aggrrr! Just had a look at my tres and the fronts are definatley due for replacement, with the rears not too far behind :(

I remember some peeps mentioning some web sites that deliver the tyres to your house, does anyone know the address? I think they were notts based?

Also, as a member of SIDC can I get 10% off tyres from main dealer?

Any other advice welcomed. I need 205/50/R16 tyres

Scary weekend for me, Washed the car, and did a double take on the front wheel, as the outside shoulder was completely smooth!! Checked the other side and it was the same!! Backs were almost as bad, so replaced all 4 today.

What causes this then? All wheels were balance correctly, and I had my 4 wheel alignment checked last month after a kerb incident?? Garage said its likely to be ragging the car too much, since the outside shoulders take the strain when cornering quickly. Any comments?

I replaced them with 4 Toyo Proxes T1-S (205/50/ZR16 87W) which come highly recommended on scoobynet. Cost was £329 all in. How good a deal was this?

Mine are the same & i'm the first to admit that I take roundabouts faster than your average driver. Result - Bald outside edge on the nearside tyres !!!!

Anything like this?

That was a rear SO2 PP, the bald edge being on the outside of the car.

If so, then you need to get the geometry set, not just the alignment. I hold the record for the worst geometry setup TSL have ever seen.

Theres an alarm going off somewhere in my head, and the cause is:

Geometry fix + Main dealer = expensive!

Am I right??

Cars only covered 14,000 so can have gone wrong already surely?

ChrisB 26 February 2002 07:44 PM

Chances are the geometry has been out since day one. Have you had the car from new? It's my understanding that you can drive a bus through the factory tolerances and still not be out of allignment.

Don't bother with the dealer (IMO). TSL or PowerStation are the folks to sort it out. Having watched my car get done at TSL, it's not something most fast fit tyre places can do.

Car was an ex demonstrator, with 3k on it when I picked it up. I'll ask TSL to do it when I'm next there.

ChrisB

TSL said I hold the record for worst geometry setup TSL have ever seen.
I had mine do a couple of months back

Do there say this to every one?
