Gold plating

People get chrome parts for engine bays ect..

harvey 18 February 2009 10:43 PM

An Arab Sheik I would guess.

We can gold powder coat your intercooler pipes and many other parts to match the gold Subaru wheels.

I'd have thought gold plate would melt and go soft with the under bonnet temperatures!!

GazTheHat 19 February 2009 03:14 PM

What's the point? :brickwall

No-one will see it and if you stop to lift the bonnet and show someone, the usual responses will be "tosser" / "why waste the gold on that car" / "that guy has too much money"

There was a story knocking round a few years back about an arab who gold plated his Rolls Royce. The sun softened it and the peasants scraped it off. Don't know if it was true or not, probably just an urban myth. A clean engine bay with shiny stainless bits does look trick though. I prefer to keep my bonnet closed :D

No doubt the neons will set it all off.

harvey 21 February 2009 12:18 AM

The melting point of gold in relation to under bonnet temps is relatively high so melting and sagging will not be a problem.
