Well, I was on my way to the airport and BANG!

He came from nowhere :(
That's my car (company car) at 45 degrees in the ditch on the left, fortunately no major injuries just bumps, bruises, sore neck/shoulders and cut to my left leg. :thumb:
Yep, that's a Legacy that the blind driver was piloting (blind because he went straight through a stop sign and punted me off the road. :freak3:
Missed my flight to Hong Kong so will now attempt to get a flight tomorrow. Could have been worse as I only just missed the concrete pylon. :)

Scoobychick 18 February 2009 08:05 AM

Flamin' Nora matey  Did he hit you head or side on? I'm glad you're OK, if a little battered and bruised.

Blooming Subaru drivers  ;)

The Zohan 18 February 2009 08:10 AM

At least you are OK, do get yourself checked out after a knock like that!

coolangatta 18 February 2009 08:34 AM

Thanks 84of300 :thumb:

Scoobychick - He T-boned me just in front of the drivers door. I was travelling at around 30 MPH because of the conditions. Not sure how fast he was travelling but seeing as he was a Subaru driver  :p ;)

Paul - Cheers, I've been to the Docs and been fully checked out. He told me I'm getting old :Suspiciou maybe it was lost in translation :lol1:

Cheers :)

Glad your ok mate, always annoying to miss a flight eh, but main thing is you are alive and well.

Thanks Snazy :thumb:
Down to the other driver's insurance and my company's insurer to fight it out.
The other guy admitted he was in the wrong to the police that attended so should be pretty straight forward. :)
Also police here make a report for insurers and it's pretty obvious he ran a stop.
thanks again. :)

Thanks Les :)
Business trip so have rescheduled flight for tomorrow.
Bit of a pain to put meetings back 24 hrs but the other parties are being cooperative due to circumstances.

Thanks again. :)

Aaah excellent, thats helpful of them :)
Hope the insurance companies are a little more straight forward than the UK ones can be at times.

Just heard that they (his insurer) have accepted liability for my medical expenses already, so looks like it will be straight forward enough :thumb:

dunx 18 February 2009 05:17 PM

What he said^

Pleased to know you escaped unharmed. Doesn't matter about the car. They come and go.

Take care, Cool. :thumb:

Torquemada 18 February 2009 06:59 PM

Thanks Ms. Hot,

Cheers to Tom too. :)

ScooByer Trade 19 February 2009 12:52 AM

Go and have your head x-rayed if you bumped it.Feel for you.Send the other stupid party down for wreckless driving.

SwissTony 19 February 2009 07:01 AM

Close one mate, glad you made it out alive though. I see the standard of driving over there is just as bad as here

oldsplice 19 February 2009 11:20 AM

Blimey Mr Coolangatta! Hope you're ok.

Did he come out of the sun? :)

coolangatta 28 February 2009 11:54 AM

Thanks for the nice words folks :thumb:
Sorry didn't get to reply until now. :o
Everything is now pretty good except the cut on my leg.
Cops have asked if I want to press a criminal charge of 'injury through negligence' which is quite a serious charge (I'm told). He would lose his licence and could lose his job too so I've said no to that. We all make mistakes after all.

ScooByer Trade; I had my head x-rayed but they found nothing :thumb:

Cheers Swiss T, Yep! They don't do junctions in Japan :Whatever_

oldsplice; :lol1: Good one. I'll use that if you don't mind :)

Fairy nuff. IMO there should have been some kind of penalty (if not that) for him. As you say, he blindpiloted, went straight through a stop sign and punted you off the road. He shouldn't just get away with it. Anyway, look after that cut, Mr. Cool. :thumb:

Hi Ms Hot,
He won't get away without facing some sort of penalty.
He will face a fine and downgrading (points) of his licence as a minimum, which will mean higher insurance costs.
The charge of 'injury by negligence' was only applicable if I sanctioned it.
I didn't feel that it was appropriate, as my injuries were minor, and I don't want the guy to suffer unduly. :) Losing his licence, and possibly his job, is way over the top IMO.
As said earlier, we all make mistakes. :)
I'm sure he didn't set out to mash his nice car into my crappy work horse that morning.
I hate the 'claim, claim, claim' nature of accident sufferers. :Whatever_

Thanks Ms. Hot :D

I didn't think things like that (compoculture) happened in Japan, anyway  I always thought this happens in GB because you see, after all, this is Britain. :D

What a refreshing attitude to read in the days of compensation culture. Nice one mate :D

I don't think that 'compoculture' :D culture does exist here, yet. :Whatever_
However it does appear to be available/exploitable for the sh1tbags who 'will' take advantage :nono:
