as far as i know only Prova can remap them and would be mapped quite aggressively

is that one no good then?

280bhp at the wheels:confused: that ecu unmodified produces 208bhp at the flywheel.

Just looked at the advert address and it's just down the road from me.

Just looked at his other for sale and he says the car produced 281bhp

I doubt it's mappable (I'm sure the seller would shout about it, if so) - reads like a generic map on a chip fitted inside.

I've not heard of this chip and I see it's Jap in origin; they can run very aggressive timimg/boost/fuelling (Mines chips spring to mind) - not advisable IMHO (if you value your engine, that is).

That said, I suppose you could buy/fit it and immediately get it on a RR to check the A/F throughout the whole of the rev range, etc.... and bhp/torque gain! If all okay, then fair enough (but I'd fit a boost and A/F gauge too).

If not, then simply sell it on... :Suspiciou

i wouldn't bother with it, i would find an ecu that has customer support in this country.

turbo200chris 15 February 2009 02:56 PM

that sound like to much work, lol and complicated!

joz8968 15 February 2009 02:58 PM

mbwrx is right - save up for a PFC (or indeed a Simtek) and get JGM to map it for you. You won't get better aftercare support! ;)

If you want a bit more ooomph then either buy a PowerFc or other such remappable ecus (not cheap though) or have a look here HDI under boost controllers and the SBC-D-RX subaru only boost controller.

My mate runs one of those on his 98 UK turbo and works fine.

No that is a 4 pin ecu you need a 3 pin.

joz8968 15 February 2009 03:03 PM

No. It's for the early MY93-96 cars - A-C.

The sticker on the side for the one for your MY97/98 car needs to read "PFC GC8-D..." Basically yours will have a 3-plug socket (the one in the ad is a 4-plugger).

Why not periodically check the Classifieds on SN (subscribe to the two "For Sale" threads) - there's usually one available within any one month period :)...
