They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery ;)

johnpye 12 February 2009 02:41 PM

well thank you all very much, do you think that it is better doing it this way than in the garage, you all think it will be worth doing then, the car is totally standard black 2004 sti

jaytc2003 12 February 2009 02:58 PM

yep, even though it is standard you will get a nice increase and a better drive, and better fuel economy off boost as well. Off course a remap comes into its own though when you have modded the car

Jolly Green Monster 12 February 2009 04:23 PM

Its actually green giant sweet corn, he does say ho ho lots mind similar amount to santa does but they have never used jolly in their name :)
However I will bring some sweetcorn with me if you want?

No, Simon's right - just Green Giant...

The jingle simply went:-

"HO HO HO" [with a booming echo effect]... # Greeeen Giant # [sung in a male American voice].

There' was no "Jolly" anywhere to be seen or heard ...... apart from on here, of course! LOL! :lol1:

Well i'm hoping to hear from simon soon about the remap, anyone know what bhp to expect for it after remap!

joz8968 15 February 2009 02:33 PM

Is it a UK one with 265bhp or a JDM with 276? Do you intend to add any supporting mods first, before the remap, etc?

johnpye 15 February 2009 03:49 PM

it is the uk one, i was hoping to leave it standard other than the map, just wanted a bit more from her, do you think it is worth doing it or not???

joz8968 15 February 2009 03:58 PM

Well, if no extra mods I'd personally wouldn't bother.

If you fit a decat downpipe, then yes - do it! You can prob pick up a 2nd hand bellmouth job for £60 anyway, so it's a no brainer. A remapped decatted downpipe'd Impreza is ALWAYS worth doing... you should see over 300bhp!

johnpye 15 February 2009 04:07 PM

ok thanks for your advice and help, in which case i will prob leave it as it is, it is plenty quick enough for me as it is, and if you don't think its worth it i won't bother

Don't get me wrong - having a car remapped is not all about gained bhp/lb ft. i's about responsiveness and safetly too. A remap means that your car will be running the best/safely it can - mods or no mods.

Not sure what sort of bhp gain you'd get on mapped std car - possibly 20? Maybe more? :wonder:

Ask JGM's advice - he'll sort you out... :)

Jolly Green Monster 15 February 2009 05:31 PM

why the not bother? yes more gains with mods but should be in the region of 300/300 once remapped.. so 45bhp should be a nice gain..

custom mapping to current setup be it standard or modded will still see nice gains

Simon

Sorry Simon - I had no idea that a std car would add that sort of bhp/torque!

There you go jp, I was talking shi'ite , JGM doesn't :) - I bet you're rethinking a remap now, eh? :norty:
