Exchange Question
Hi Guys,
I hope this is a striaght forward query!!! Is there an easy way to see the volume of sent items a user generates per day? So I can see that UserA has sent 15 items today, etc. Cheers Andy |
Which version of Exchange are you running?

Exchange 2000 Enterprise

You could enable Journaling on the Mailbox Store, this will send a copy of all sent mails to a designated mailbox (you could setup a "Journal" mailbox specifically to monitor the mail).
Not 100% what your after but you would be able to see all sent e-mails. Will give your server a bit more work to do depending on the size of your e-mail traffic. You could obviously give yourself access to the user’s mailbox and connect to it via outlook but bit of a pain if you want to monitor all users in general, not so bad though if you just suspect the odd one of two users who you want to monitor/check. If you want a nice easy to read report for all users then I don't think there is a way to do this without using third party software, especially with Exchange 2000. |
Does Exchange 2000 have message tracker like 2003 does? If so, that'll do what you need. You just need to put the sender address in and leave the recipient free

Basically the MD wants to monitor the volume, but not the content of the emails going out.
The Exchange 2000 server is about to be replaced, due it being near capacity I don't want to enable journalling! The Exchange 2008 server should be online within the next month, so we'llb e using journalling to archive messages. A quick Google shows me Message Tracker is available in Exchange 2000: How to enable message tracking in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003 Thanks guys, it is much appreciated! :D |
