I waved to a couple more today but got no response. Like you say it seems to be getting rarer. When I got my first Scoob many years ago I seemed to spend all my time acknowledging waves.

I do like your wheels, they go well with the silver bodywork.

thank you - powder coated black by the guy in canvey. can't remember who (could have been m neame?) gave me the phone number a couple of years ago. the car is filthy and i haven't been too keen to wash it in recent weather, so they look better when they're not covered in road film!

got back around the 18th of jan - we have another baby due (was due on the 4th), so not travelling for some time now.

with the noise levels in china, even the loudest of cars in this country wouldn't even get noticed. there seems to be no understanding of "acceptable noise levels" in china.

one of the things that mde me laugh when i first went there, was that the road sweeper trucks (little things the size of one of those suzuki roller skate vans) play "jingle bells" when they sweep the road.....and that;s not seasonal - they play the same tunes all year :wonder:

China is fascinating, you are lucky (I think) to get to visit. As strange and diverse as it is vast !

yes, another world almost. when i first went there, it reminded me in many ways of the 70's in this country - heavy smoking, no responsibility for anything - people throw litter anywhere and will literally dump things on the doorstep to their building for the street cleaners to take away (which can take months if there is enough crap there!), people spitting in the street, style of decoration in homes, constant danger of stepping in dog crap in the street, any many other things.

people seem to be obsessed with "luck" and "fortune". they believe all sorts of things which if you analysed them, are complete rubbish. i have had these conversations with people and they can see that viewpoint, but they also point out that they are not used to analysing - merely believing.

people can also be very naiive - there are obviously some that use this to their advantage and there are others who through no fault of their own, have been far too sheltered in their up-bringing and will probably suffer for it later on (usually in a financial sense).

all in all, a real experience and somewhere i am sure i will go back to. a very beautiful country at times, but of course there are two sides to the coin.

I spent some time in Singapore as a kid in the mid 60's & what a fascinating place that was. Like you say about China there are two sides to the coin. There was great wealth & affluence in some areas & total poverty in others.

A real country of opposites. Especially the weather. I will always remember the tropical storms & the monsoon rains when the roads would steam at first & then turn into torrents of water.

I too would love to go back some day for a trip down memory lane.
