Anyone know whether or not the UK300 18" OZ Wheel will fit the new STi Type UK? If so, are they a dealer purchase option.

Waiting for my STi now, still have my MY00 UK car with the 17" OZ gold wheels, and would love to have the same style wheel on the new car.

Anyone?

Cheers

Simon

Simon

The wheels fitted to the UK300 will not fit the STi cars as they do not clear the calipers.

There is a new wheel which is the same design but different offset which will clear the calipers (Note: Offset is not the critical measure of whether a wheel will fit over a certain caliper, it's due to the spoke design. Changing offset with the same spoke design will give you more clearance as in this case)
This wheel is now available in Rally Gold (slightly lighter than the UK300 gold) which is exactly the same colour as the WRC wheels. It will also be available in a completely new colour called Crystal Titanium which is similar to the finish on an M3 wheel.

These are available from your dealer with the new Pirelli PZero Nero tyre which has just been launched.

Your dealer already has some details but no pictures yet.

Mike

Keep us posted Mike, any pics would be appreciated as I am not too keen on the gold wheels on the black , they may grow on me when I get the car.

The clearance between rim and Brembo's is so small on the STI wheels that the balancing weights are on the outside. There is about a credit card's thickness to the spokes. They are one very tight fit. No way will yours fit.

When they come up with some nice anthracites I'll swap, meantime I'll be tacky and stay with the gold.

Hi Ken

Trust you got the envelope from Keith.... ;)

Yep, I know that the offset screws up any chance of running my existing wheels on it. Have you seen the clearance with those and the AP brakes... I don't know about credit card, more like a cats cock hair...

I thought about you when Mike Wood mentioned the M3 look wheels...

You know me though, love my blue and gold....

Cheers

Hi Simon, Got the envelope and thanks. My good lady is starting to prefer the gold wheels, very worrying. She has also complained that the exhaust isn't as loud as the last one, even more worrying. Is she going Max Power? :D

I'm looking forward to finding out how a set of Toyos work out on this car (at the way we eat up miles, probably not that far away).

Dont mean to hi-jack this thread but could you answer a couple of questions:
1)Markus and i (see monster brake kit thread) have ordered the porker/movit brake set-up which doesnt fit the wrx01 alloys we have. The uk distributor may suggest spacers as a poss fix- anything between 5-15mm.Im not happy with this.
-what would your view be and what mm spacer could we go up to without really stressing the hub, bearings etc

2)The other poss is the sti alloys. do you know what their off-set is and what the spec of the brembos are that fit underneath ie disc thickness etc. the kit we have uses 32mm discs with the porker turbo/gt3 calliper

cheers
matt

Yes Ken, probably not long at all before new tyres required. Might give the Toyos a go myself this time, had enough of the S02's, tyre wear to much for me.....

I know what you mean about the car being not so loud. I am wondering whether the HKS SD that I have will go on the new car, or the the very least, the back box. That said, want it completely standard until the car has had its first rolling road day, then will play, hopefully with a STi PPP, come on Mike Wood, when can we have one....

Mike,
Can you give us anymore info on the new pzero rubber you mentioned, I'm was aiming to have Toyo's fitted when the new wheel
arrive...

MikeWood 25 February 2002 04:05 PM

Matt

I wouldn't recommend the use of spacers at all as you are using up the available stud length.

GSti

The new Pirelli PZero Nero tyre is the latest ultra high performance tyre which offers some improvements in both grip and rolling comfort as well as progressive breakaway, particularly in the wet.

Mike,
what about using spacers if new, for example, Group N, length bolts are used?

still a no-no?

any ideas on pricing on these new wheels?

GSti 25 February 2002 05:18 PM

So.... toyo's or these new Nero's, I was under the impression the
PZeros were more of a bulk standard supply tyre, as oppossed to an out and out performance tyre, any comments anyone ?

Sorry for the dumb question, but can anyone explain *why* the STi Brembo callipers are so big? I have the Scoobysport Brembos on my MY00 which fitted fine under my standard 16" wheels.

So what is so special about the STi callipers vs my Scoobysport Brembos?

Martin J Stirling 25 February 2002 11:31 PM

Think it's due to the larger size of the pistons used and because they accomodate larger thickness discs which mean that the caliper must be wider too.

Clear as mud? :D

Markus 26 February 2002 10:04 AM

Think Martin is right, subaru has decided to finally give us decent brakes as standard, hence the huge disc and calipers.

Gotta love em for it!
