p.s. I assume the £770 was plus vat ?

Costco are not normally that cheap on electricals..

They are excellent, as are all Panasonic Viera PDP's. It's the time of year for AV bargains as the new ranges always come out around March, but the Costco price is about as good as it's gonna get for a quality TV. The only other consideration I'd look into is securing a 5yr warranty. Sound and Vision are currently doing a 3yr, but the same set is £950.

The next generation X1 NEO plasma's are going to be a major leap in performance (24mm thick, half to a third the power consumption, much higher contrast and colour gamut) but they will be pricey for a couple of years. The new entry level PX10 range is rumored to be very reasonably priced though with the 50" Full HD 1080p possibly £999. No new 46" model I'm told.

Pioneer is the way to go when it comes to plasma panels.

I can't fault mine, it's simply stunning. Although the price is what puts most off.

The instore price is 869.99+vat, but there is an instore voucher which is used to reduce it to 669.99+vat = £770.49.

Another option is to get John Lewis to price-match to get their excellent 5yr warranty. They don't PM Costco though :( There's a big guide on AV Forums on how to play the JL game ;)

costco has 5 year warranty :thumb:

JL can't price match costco as it is a wholesale not retail outlet

maybe i will wait i have a 36" Toshiba CRT which is going strong as its only 5 years old. I was just thinking that with the pound dropping this might be the time to buy as the people are clearing out old stock to get some cash flow and in future the price wont drop to this level for that size screen they will just keep adding features or upping the spec.

I will look on the AV Forum thanks

I have the freesat version of that very TV. It is generation 11 of the Viera panel. Fantastic - I wish I had bought the 50in one!

You must have the Toshiba I have. I am thinking along the same lines as you -- that things will get more expensive.

The only thing putting me off is that the Toshiba should go upstairs to one of the spare bedrooms but it weighs 70kgs with the stand!
