The trim panel which houese the clock can be lifted out with a bit of a shove upwards, the clock can then be disconnected.
Sometimes the trim/clock assy come up advertised in the general for sale section for those peeps who have replaced it with a triple gauge cluster. The defi gauges being a popular choice. Depends if you want a load of gauges i guess! :) |
Alittle Late with this, (Just Joined Up) I have 02 Bug and mines the same. Took it all apart the other week, Bit by bit. Time Clocks Burnt out. Meter tells me there's Battery and Power there. From a dealer there £55. Ebay with Centre Housing £35. Talking that Chance if it works or not! Gauges Sound good. More Expensive, but looks miles Better. I use my Phone for the Time. Cheaper!

It always used to be just one of the square resistors with a dry joint, for the sake of 10mins it's worth resoldering them.

Check this page out:
rowejason.com Subaru WRX 2002 Digital Clock Fix Real common fault but also a very easy fix....hardest bit was removing the clock surround! There were 2 resisters that needed soldering on mine, I think there are 3 identical ones on there so won't be too hard to locate. Only needs a hairline crack to stop working. Give it a go, takes minutes. |

I got a 2001 bugeye and I my clock was dead. Tried soldering resistor 510 but the clock was still dead. Did a bit of research and found that these clocks are interchangable on certain models. I got a second hand clock from a Subaru Forester (located above the rear view mirror) at a scrapyard for £15 |
£15. Cracking price that. Gonna see how long this last's, was broke when i bought the car so lets hope it's ok for at least 6 months. I'll keep that in mind about the Forester Ones!
