that is what im thinking, cometic gaskets and arp bolts, apparantly, once rebuilt engine and run in for a while with the arp bolts you have to retorque them!? is this true as pain in the arse to do that on a scooby.

is a standard heaad gasket thickness 1.2mm? or what would a safe thickness be to run up to 25psi on?
cheers

ARP bolts only need to be torqued up once “Correctly” following the same OE Subaru pattern to your desired toque setting. You can recheck this if you like while the engine is out at a later time, but no need to head up and cool down.

Most important, clean threads, make sure the stud is seated correctly in the block, use ARP lube or similar.

Gasket sizes will vary depending on year and pistons used, MLS gaskets like Cosworth, Cometic, etc are more than up to the job assuming heads are freshly skimmed and the deck has been cheeked.

Any supplier experienced in this field will be happy to supply you all the correct install info.
