1929 vs 2009....and the UK
1929: Economic downturn, social unrest and weak political class;
Led to: WW2, persecution of Jews (amongst others) and millions killed, world in a bad way. 2009: Economic downturn, social unrest, pathethic political class, wars; Led to: Hatred towards the Arab world, and....... ?????? :wonder: :wonder: Meanwhile in the UK, Gordo Brown makes a "nice" speech about work and foreigners: For the first time in a long time, regarding political speeches, I can say that Gordo Browns comments remind of Hilter's comments back in the late '20s and early '30s, regarding "Foreigners"........... Xenophobia seems to be reaching sick levels in the UK, yet suprisingly, considering there were terrorist attacks done by Fundamentalists (from very obvious places) no reprisals were made in the UK at the time. Now strangely enough, 'honest' law abiding foreign workers are persecuted for less! :wonder: :wonder: National Statistics Online National Statistics Online Which such a diverse cultural backround, there should be more tolerance: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b174/Janspeed/273.gif |
It was always destined to happen during an economic downturn. You can't have an influx of Eastern Europeans and others taking jobs and ludicrously taking benefits without a backlash during 'hard times'.

But the "go" word should not have come from a useless PM trying to get some more votes..........

Personally I'd consider Gordon Brown to be more of a spineless appeaser like Chamberlain than a tough-talking dictator like Hitler. One other point of note: the UK is no longer a world industrial power like it used to be 80 years ago, so what Gordon says and does has almost no effect on the world economy.

The Germans killed the Jews
The Jews killed the Arabs and the Arabs killed the hostages so what is the news? hope that helps :) |

To compare 1929 to 2009 is folly, the only similar thing is that the world is spinning at about the same speed ;)
It is a fact that the world is looking to Brown, our Brown, to come up with the answers ........ laughable though some may think that is - the people who know, know better. |
I see that the term xenophopia is misused and misunderstood on SN again.
