Insurance question

Had a van go into me yesterday on a roundabout. Damage on my car (vaux calibra) was not major, but due to the cars worth Im thinking there is a possibility of it being written off.

Parts needed that I can see from a visual inspection are
colour coded bumper,
bumper bar and foam (dont know if it comes as one)
new nr side wing,
new nr side headlight
Nr side door is caved in (would actually push out though)
Steering arm
Paint on the bonnet where the wing has caught it.

Is there a general rule that says if it costs xx% of the vehicles value then its deemed not economical to repair?

I asked my insurance co but they couldnt/wouldnt give me this info (insurer is esure)

also if the company does write it off, I will probably want to buy it back, however would it then be classed as a cat c/d car? and if so would that stay on the log book no matter what?

Cheers
James

AFAIK They go off all individual prices @ retail cost.
The amount would certainly write it off due to age, import etc...

I would wait till the assessor comes see if you can get a good price and say you will accept if you can keep the car. If not I think you can buy it back at 10% of the payout anyway.

And then it will become CAT C :(
