its not that bad a job to do! half way throu doing my mates! you will always get the help you need on this site if you get stuck! whats gone on it or you going for big power so uprating?

As said above it's not that difficult. Just make sure you're obsessively clean.
Be methodical and follow the workshop manual to the letter and you'll be fine.

When I started this DIY tuning malarky I was a complete novice. I've done numerous rebuilds from scratch including my own 600bhp build and nothing has let go yet :) (touch wood)

Go for it and have a go at it is my advice :)

buy yourself a CD workshop manual on Ebay.

Like a haynes manual only far far better.

Mine cost me a fiver.

SUBARU IMPREZA WORKSHOP MANUAL CD STI TURBO WRX on eBay, also Subaru Workshop Manuals, Subaru, Car Manuals Literature, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 26-Jan-09 15:14:59 GMT)

Look on Projects. I'm just about to finish my own 'budget DIY rebuild'. Not so 'budget' any more, but my first ever engine build.

scoobychippy 25 January 2009 04:26 PM

dont think the v9 crank will fit a classic as the v9 is a rear thrust when the classics are a center thrust!

iv just done mine, pretty straight forward, just gotta check things and re check, depends on how far u go, depends on how complex it gets
