A little help please

Hi. When I was fitting a boost gauge today I found a small button on a flying lead behind the lower trim below the steering wheel.

It only has two wires connected to it and there is a hole in the trim (doesnt look standard) where the button used to come thru. Any ideas what this might be for?

I`ll get some pics of it tomorrow.

rear fog light switch?

Syph 24 January 2009 11:14 PM

Nope. I have one of those fitted on the left.
This switch does not toggle.

I havent pressed it with the ignition on as i dont know what it does.

It would need to be held on, but thanks all the same.

Neon's :lol1: .

I only say this as i bought a mk1 astra years ago and found a switch that i could work out what it was for. After following the wires i discovered a neon light under the rear bumper. :lol1:

Trace the wires back to find out what it is connected to.

I've seen a couple of classics with the Read Mode Connectors wired to a switch, for easy fault code reading from the ECU.

That sounds interesting.

I had a quick look initially but the wires dissapear into a big bundle under the dash. sounds like a good possibility, I'll have a better look in the morning.

Cheers.

Any other ideas anyone?

007-style covert passenger ejector seat switch... Try it on your other half :lol1:

Seriously, it's not a trip switch for an alarm or immobiliser :wonder: Really stumped TBH

looks like a momentary action switch so only does anything when pressed, is there a home made water injection system?

It appears to dissapear into the main loom (not sure thats good english) not into the alarm, but I could be wrong.

Like your thinking on the ejector tho lol.

its not doing any harm, hell i didnt even know it there but it does bug me when i find things that i dont know what there for.

I would hasa guess and say its for either intercooler spray or could have been an isolation switch for +12v signal power to some amps which might have been in the boot.

A woman at my work found these two weird red buttons underneath the receptionist's desk, seemingly not used for anything. So she thought it'd be a good idea to press them anyway. Nothing happened...... Then, about 10mins later, the fire brigade turned up!!! :lol1:

They weren't pleased, when we explained... :lol1:
