How do you check the DCCD is working and what is a knock link?

Could someone please help me as I am going to hopefully pick up my first 04 STI a week on Monday and I need to know:

a) How to check the DCCD?

b) What is a knock-link as I have read you shoul check this when purchasing a car and I wouldn't have a clue what one is?

c) Are there any further tips which you can offer when looking at a STI on a 04?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Don'y think UK 04 STI's have DCCD unless it's a JDM. Knocklink measures the amount of det in the compression chambers. 04 model should be OK as the ECU will monitor that.
Rear shocks are usually a common fault. Usual checks, HPI, service history (needs to be full).
I think the above info is correct. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks for getting back to me - I should have put that the car is not a UK car it is a Maltease Import but has been bought from a dealer brand new in this country. Not too sure about this but this is what I have been told by the seller - I have spoke to someone else about this (another dealer) and apparently this happens quite often. It has also got a 6 speed gear-box - does this tell anyone anything as I am not too sure???

On eu imports the DCCD was not common until the MY05 cars (easily recognisable by the "flare" on the rear arches) but you will know if it has the A-DCCD as it has a switch and you have a visible warning on the dash.
Knock sensors on these new age STI's are very good, you just have to remember that they run super unleaded only though :)

Tony:)
