Anyone got one (is it any good) or aware of make / model of a good one. Not sure where to buy them either :(

Camping specialists
The ones attached to sites - aimed at caravaners tend to be cheaper than high street stores. Get one with a torch built in too :) |
This is the one I'm getting for camping trips etc FR350 AM/FM/SW Wind-Up Radio > Maplin

I did a fair bit of research and got a Freeplay Ranger - the rest failed badly on how long they play for if you ever need to wind them up (not had to on mine - I recharge it). It's a great piece of kit (usually have it when I'm gardening etc - doesn't mind being covered in muck).

We had some building work done just before christmas and the bricky had one that could be wound up, and had a solar panel. It seemed to play for quite a while in between wind ups, obviously we couldn't tell how well the solar panel faired.
I think it was one of the tool manufacturers make. |
