Boost problems
Hello all, i recently purchased my first scooby, which has since developed a problem. With this being my first one, i know little about them at present, so im turning to you all for some advice to see what the problem might be.
The car starts and drives, however under slow acceleration, is extremly shakey and judery almost like a missfire. Also when i stop the revs drop and it some times cuts out. There also seems to be a problem when accelrating hard, the car wont boost. AT ALL. as soon as you put your foot down and the turbo is about to boost, it completly dies and chokes. Now the manifold has started to blow quiet badly, so im not sure if this is some way related to the problem? Could a loss of back pressure be causing all of this? Any help would be much appreciated. |
Sounds like an air leak somewhere.. check all connections, acuator, boost solinoid etc... make sure none are split or popped off...
but if the headers are blowing there wont be any pressure going up the up pipe to spool the turbo so fix that prob 1st then see if there is an improvement |
Hi, thanks for your reply. I have checked all boost pipes and vacuum hoses for splits ect and as far i can see there are no problems here. Where will i find the boost solenoid? Thanks.

Also i forgot to mention in my first post, that my rev counter, speedo, temp gauge and digital milage clock have all stopped working. This seems to be an intermitante problem and they go off and on randomly. When they fail, the car wont boost, as soon as they come back on the car seems to be fine.

Sounds like you have some bad wiring somewhere... bad earth maybe. which maybe affecting the solinoid?
have you fitted or changed anything in the car? does it have gauges? blue lights? HIDs? |
I have'nt changed any thing my self, as i've only had the car for a week. But yes it does have blue lights and a boost gauge..
|
might be worth following wiring back and having a look..
