Difference between 2001 WRX & 2003 STI

Hi there im pretty new to scoobys but ive seen a impreza for sale that was origanally a 2001 WRX thats had a front end convertion to make it look like a 2003 STI, its also had a few mods to get the power up to STI levels but im just wondering what other differences do the 2003 STI have over the 2001 WRX, a friend of mine tells me with the older scoobys the difference was power, suspention & engine internals.
But does anyone know if the same would still apply?

There is no comparison between the 2 cars, the only thing that is identical is the shape, pretty much everything else on the STI is uprated.

Tony:)
