Help - removing wind deflectors

I was washing the car today leaning over to wash the wheels when I pushed against the wind deflector by accident (they came with the car btw!!!!) and I snapped a section off. To be honest it was always my intention to remove them but not right now and not this way. Ive removed all the plastic but its left a horrible adhesive which runs from the wing mirror alway the way to the front endge of the back side window.

How do I remove the adhesive without damaging the paint???? Ive been in the garage the last hour covering the glue stuff with Tequila I had left over from 5 xmas's ago. I figured something with alcholol in it would help break it up. SUGGESTIONS?????
:brickwall

Unless I get some help here I'll end up drinking the Tequila

Be carefull, when removing mine, the glue had been on there so long, it took the paint with it when removing it.
I didn't use anything too harsh either, just WD40.

Now your spooking me..so I guess if I soak the adhesive tonight that may help. Im wondering whether to leave it as is and speak to a graphics company. They must experience in removing glues etc from paint work.

I was going to recommend Muddy Detail, as they did a blinding job of removing a WRX graphic form my bootlid (looked brand new)... but read here...

Poor bloke :( - I hope he recovers.

As mit says, WD40 is an excellent remover of adhesives. Just squirt a little on a bit at a time and agitate off with forefinger pressure behind a smooth cloth. A 'fake' chamois will do the job nicely (those yellow ones that feel like rubber with the tiny perforations, from Halfords lol).

Heat with a hair dryer & try to peel off as much as you can with an ice scraper or something (be carefull not to scratch with corners...)

Then use meguiars de-greaser and elbow grease to remove the left over adhesive.

I did this on my 98 impreza and the remaining glue marks polish out.
