Southern Section Golf Fun Day at Northwick Park, Harrow.

Any Scoobynet golfers out there interested in a golf tournament, followed by a meal or drinks after? We could decide on dates & courses later. (ps you dont have to be a golf pro or anything as we'l pick a public/newbie friendly course)

Iv started thread in Southern section as I thought most applicable, but open to any Scoobynet members & your welcome to invite friends too.

ps Budgie could you post it up in ESC section as I dont know how many of them look into Southern Section. ps though I imagine theyd prefer a kite flying tournament instead :D

Budgie 18 January 2009 09:42 AM

rickya 18 January 2009 02:08 PM

JonMc 18 January 2009 04:02 PM

Last time I did this it was with my management team from a job I was doing in Scarborough. Me, 2 seasoned golfers and 1 guy who had never swung a club before.

Took us nearly six hours, and I because the wife was going to work and I had to get home never had time for one in the 19th. Depending when it is I might be available to caddy (and carry the Pimms)

Possible courses -Please add course suggestions
Heathrow Air Links
St Cleres Golf Club, Essex

Excellent respnose from everyone, especially ESC with approx 6 to 10 interested :)

Will let it run for a bit longer, then put up list of possible dates.
In the meantime any suggestions of good, friendly courses would be good. I am assuming we will probably be looking at public courses, as private clubs can be fussy with novices & especially tee off times for non memebers.

JonMc 18 January 2009 08:05 PM

What do I need, just a seven iron, a putter and a bag of balls:norty:

Budgie 18 January 2009 08:53 PM

please bear in mind ricky that the miserable f***ers at ruislip
chucked us out for holding meets in their car park
i would hate to give them our money after that
unless we take shovels and dig the place up as we go:mad:

Better than Haste Hill which is just a public course & busy.

Yeah it's a proper course , But no probs with green fee's / Society's , in fact they encourage it , Saying that though if there are guys there who have never played before then maybe this is not the place or any course for that matter , maybe a driving range, pitch & putt for a bit of practise is called for :D

It's an option :thumb:

I didnt realise there would be such interest from so many people about Golf! Thats great! :) Though what I now think will be better is if I first organise an afternoon at here, see below:

Golf London - Golf Club | Driving Range | Lessons | Baseball, Softball | Gym

This place is great for absoloutely everyone, beginners & budding golfers & pros! We can also bring wives, girlfriends & kids so no complaints from them either :D It is a multi million pound newly opened attraction in Harrow. It has a big two level driving range, crazy golf, short game area, baseball batting cage (first in UK), a nice bar & restaurant. If anyone has clubs they also have a very well maintained 8 hole course which you could play later on in day. They have replicated the 8 holes from Championship courses from around the world. (though they do ask if you are approx max 20 handicap or there abouts)

The the idea is, we could all get together, go on the driving range; maybe crazy golf; have a couple of drinks & a meal & later if anyone wanted they could go round on the quick 8 hole course or short game area. So please put your name down for this event which we could try & do in the next month or two.

ps With the help of Tiny(ESC) we can hopefully try & organise a round of golf at St Cleres later on in the year. Hopefully the weather would be better by then & any budding golfers can get some practice in by then....including myself!!

Please add names below:

I'm off to the states next month which will take out the weekends of 7/8th and 14/15th. If you plan it any other weekend (provide it suits the kids social lives) we'll aim to come along, but don't hinge it around my dates as it seems to be silly season for kids birthday parties too.

M444GY 20 January 2009 08:25 PM

im in

rickya 20 January 2009 08:58 PM

Im on holiday from Feb 20th till March 10th.

Ok if others could put down any weekends they are definetley not availiable in Feb & March & we will try & find a weekend suitable to as many as possible. May have to be mid March?
