Hawkeye Centre Console into Bugeye?

Just an idea that came to me the other day and I'm sure someone will have thought of this or tried it.
Will a Hawkeye / later blobeye centre console swap with the bugeye centre console?

I like the hawkeye Ac / fan etc controls as they're slightly more modern looking, but I'm just wondering if it's a straight plug and play swap, or if this will require some trimming.

Anybody help me out / point me to an article?
Searched for centre console but nada.

Ive looked at the two similar centres and im pretty sure they are the same size. From what ive seen, you would need to change the whole centre section, including the vents, as these are slightly deeper on the facelift dash. You would also lose your cup holder.

Apart from that, i didnt take it much further.

Nice one cheers; sounds like you also have to relocate the electric mirror switch too, although that shouldn't be a problem.

I fancy doing this to mine aswell.

Just need to source the bits.

I do agree the centre console does look better than mine :-(

I've seen a few different views on what's actually required here.
As I understand it, I'd need:
  • Vents
  • Radio Surround and Heater Panel
  • Heater Controls to go behind that panel
  • Ashtray and gear surround
  • Piece that goes behind the gear surround containing the armrest and handbrake

Other posters seem to suggest I might also need different radio brackets, but that the heater controls are a straight swap and the wiring looms are compatible.

I also understand I'd need to modify the piece by the gear surround to relocate the electric mirror switch, as the Hawkeye has this in the door.

Are there other parts I'd need?

Haven't seen a close-up of a Hawkeye centre console - could anyone oblige?

You need the Metal bracket that screws/bolts in behind the radio brackets different angles to the bugeye and also the radio brackets, not expensive from the stealers.

S!

You will need (from memory)

Top air vents
Radio surround
Gear surround
Handbrake and storage compartment
Radio brackets
Reinforcement bracket
Lower console panels
05 on hand brake (pref STI ;) )

Just looked at some invoices although prob wont help lol

1 x Radio console box £19.70
2 x brackets left and right £3.74
1 x console cover £13.20
1 x screws and nuts £4.94
1 x 66203FE201 center reinforcement £19.28
1 x console £37.80
2 x panels £16.02

I did get a shiney piece of metal to make a surround for the mirror switch so it stays where it is.

The handbrake needs to be renewed as the early ones rub too close to the new console. While you are at it,can adjust handbrake cable too!!

The aircon switches are a direct fitment and work a treat!

HTH :)

Youch! It's not a cheap one then! Thanks fella - I'll have to have a think on this one as it sounds like it's not as simple as I'd hoped; but you're right it does look nice :D :thumb:
