Possibly getting rid of my UK for a Legacy GT or Legnum VR-4?

Alright peeps, i'm after a bit of advice. I've currently got a UK Turbo Impreza and I'm getting rid very shortly for either a Legacy or a Legnum. I think i'd prefer a legacy(just for the Scooby Burble;) ) but i have been warned of the lag between turbo switchover, aparently there is about 700 RPM where there is nothing. Just a massive dead spot. I just wondered if anyone on here has any idea how they drive, handle,MPG etc. Any help would be great:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I've had a GTB for just over a year and the lag between turbo's (valley of death) isn't that bad. Only time it will catch you out is if you are at about 4000rpm in 4th or 5th. You simply change down a gear.

The bonus of the twin turbo is that you get instant boost from the primary at low revs and then an extra kick once secondary gets into its stride.

The legacy felt faster then my old STI 5 Type R, quite funny hooning past "fast" cars in an estate :lol1:

By the way, quite fancy the legnums but never tried one.

p.s they do 23MPG always so you may as well run at 90MPH :D

Thanks for the replies fellas, much appreciated. Could anyone tell me the differences between the legacy GT-B, GT & 2.0l 4 cam turbo. They are all apparently twin turbos but i just don't know the difference between them all:confused:
The Legnums are easy 2.5 V6 Twin Turbo but the Legacy seems to have about a million different names for what i can see are the same. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GTB is the one with Bilstein suspension and 280 bhp, the 2 litre 4 cam turbo is a single turbo UK model. The GT was twin turbo and had a 240 and 260 bhp model.
I had a manual GTB 97 model, you learn to drive around the VOD, the acceleration at 90+ mph when the 2nd turbo cut in was pretty mental, probably quicker than my 320 BHP V3 STi.
Get one with a stainless exhaust already fitted - exhaust parts can be quite expensive. The noise from the H&S system on mine sounded more like a flat 6 than a flat 4.
Now seriously thinking about getting another..

p.s. very stealthy, after an Impreza it feels like you're invisible

cheers skoobie dhu:thumb: , thats put that to bed for me. The one i'm looking at at the minute says its a 2l 4 cam turbo but the guy said it was a twin turbo, obviously is confused like i was, he took it as part ex apparently.

Thanks again pal, really appreciate it

What year is the car you're looking at? The 4 cam single turbo UK Legacy stopped being produced around 1993.
The GT and GTB have these badges on the back - if he's sure it's a twin turbo then I can't understand why he'd call it a 4 cam turbo rather than GT or GTB.

I'm not going to bother with that one now. I've spoken to an importer just outside London and he's got a 1998 GT-B waiting to come over from Japan. I'm just waiting for some more pics from him then i reckon it'll be a done deal. The one i was looking at (2.0l 4 cam turbo) was a 1998 model so he must have been well and truly FONCUSED!!!!!!!!!!!:cuckoo:
