In that case fast boy, Does that mean that those with turbos who fit 22b Spoilers etc, are rice-boys as they are trying to make their cars look faster (i.e. like the 22b or the WRC car). I have a 1.8GL, and I have the 22b Spoiler, whats wrong with that, i like the way the car looks with it on, it serves no purpose!
If i had half the chance (or the money) i would have a turbo bonnet as well, i wouldnt be trying to make my car go faster, just trying to make it look nice!
Some of us dont have the money to own a turbo (not yet anyway), so what is wrong with the odd picnic table here and there??

Just a thought.
A while back I kept on hearing the phrase "Rice boy" as a bloke who is into his Jap imports. I even heard of a sticker saying "100% Rice boy & proud of it!" However, I haven't heard the phrase for months now and I was wondering if any of you out there still consider yourselves to be rice boys? If not, do you have a phrase that aptly describes what you are?
Me? I'm happy being the Astraboy thanks,so no comments on what you think aptly describes me!
L8ters,
Astraboy.

Maybe we are all being influence too much by those Yanks??? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I thought rice boys where people who added lights, bonnet scoops, big wings, strips and stickers which makes their car look fast without doing any real modifications which actually change the performance or handling of the car. e.g. Addition of Max power and No Fear stickers - stealing scooby scoops etc

Andy Tang 01 February 2001 10:38 AM

Does that mean that Nito is a Rice Boy??? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Or me for that matter!!! (all those SIDC stickers on my car!!!) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I think it refers to people who have 1600 Astra's or Scoob 1.6 GL who start fitting WRC spoilers and bonnet scoops. They think the car looks fast but it isn't.

Go onto any of the American BBS's, and mention Honda, and bang, they'll be talking rice till the sun comes up.
Honda are the biggest tuning sensation in the US at the mo, and along with that, you get all the people that want to give the impression that their car is quick, but the term only applies to people with spoilers that can substitute as (and sometimes are!!) garden benches, and sunstripes, and go faster stripes, not to most of the people on this boards.
Whoops, did I say sunstripes? well, not to insult anyone on this board, but personally,I think a sunstripe should only be put onto a Ford or Golf, not onto fine Japanese machinery.
I guess that would make the Ford Apple Piey, as opposed to Ricey, as its UK built.
The phenominon of Apple Piey has even spread to small villages in Kent, and anyone who is a spotty greasy youngster now has a Fiesta or Escort that he's Apple Pied the sh1t out of, and if it sticks to the car with glue or blue tack, its on there.
Sad

Tony, I think it has less to do with how the car looks, and more to do with the attitude of the driver.
The thing I think that gets to most people, is that you get some guys that think that because their car has a 22b spoiler, it can go like a 22b.
If you've done it for cosmetic appeal, and you like it, then cool, but I think a few people just feel like, why? if you dont have that car, why do you want to make it look like you do?
but if you're happy with the look, then thats cool, though you'll probably have a lot of drivers being all "I just beat some really mega Subaru", until they meet a really mega Subaru of course.
I think the comments are mainly aimed at show off drivers, with exhausts that are just huge without adding any power to the car, and wings just stuck everywhere without aiding high speed handling, it becomes a bit of a joke, all show and no go, and its just the attitudes of these people, they think putting TURBO on the back of the car makes them invincible, sheeesh.
