Anyone heard of tradecarview?
 

Hi, I'm a proper newb! If this is in the wrong place then sorry! I have been looking for a new-ish wrx AUTO for ages and had given up hope until I came across tradecarview.com. I am planning on getting a car around August.

Where can I find info on the following:
Has anyone used that site/heard stories? Or got any idea of who could import for me?
What all needs to be done when i get the car to the company
What all needs to be changed (odometer, fueling?)
Anything else I need to know!

Make sure when your buying you dont pay a premium for an auto. An auto might be worth more to you but to the vast majority of the Impreza world its worth less.

You will have to add all the surcharges to those prices. Vat @ 15%, Import duty 10% (I believe you still pay this), Shipping @ £600 approx and SVA testing which can vary (they change odometer, rear fog etc - £700 approx.
Imported mine 4 1/2 years ago - all a bit fuzzy.

I estimate approx £13,500 + MOT and road tax, for one of those WRX Hawkeye's. Seen STI's go cheaper over here. Got to remember the pound is so low now that buying overseas is no longer the cheaper option. Maybe best to keep an eye out over here, but I bet autos are extremely rare.

All the above is just my opinion - Good luck with whatever you decide. You never know the pound may bounce back by August and the price may come down!!

Add on thoughts:

Unless you need an auto for any reason, a manual is far better for driving experience,

Looked into SVA's - seem to cost £900 now.

Shipping is approx £500 for a saloon car.

Jap cars won't come with an alarm/immobiliser - extra expense

The Hawks may not need an MOT if under 3 years old.

Import duty @ 10% is still applicable.

If you really want an auto car have you thought of Toyota Supra twin turbo's? I wanted one but couldn't find any manual ones, they were all autos!! So I bought the scoob :thumb:

Unfortunately I need an auto after an accident reduced the mobility of my left leg!

It has to be an impreza after being out for a run in a mates one night! Even as a passenger the grin factor was amazing!

I've been looking for quite some time for a newer impreza auto already in the UK and I've never seen one (except a wagon and I'm really not into that)

I imported a 22B about August time last year and just missed "the fall of the Pound" I would not recommend this route now, used Scooby prices over here have fallen considerably of late so you can pick up a better deal in the UK.

22B was over 10 years old so skipped a lot of problems but you will have:

Cost of car (pound is weak against yen just now...)
+ shipping
+ 15% VAT
+ 10% Duty
+ SVA Test
+ Rear Foglight
+ Underseal
+ Km/Mph transfer (if you want that is....I left mine in Km)
+ Mapping to aviod any fuel probs (Jap is 100RON)
+ Register to UK (only £50ish inc. plates but still.....)
+ shipping agent fee
+ customs entry fee
+ UK radio to buy or Jap reprogrammed
+ alarm to fit (not sure bout this but some say is needed??)
+ transportation to where you are in the UK from the port

Think that's it along with the usual checks i.e. Service History, Tyres etc.
Also worth giving the car a good service when it gets here as you won't be sure what's been done as the SH is in Jap. lol. It really does all add up....

I agree with allsop the falling pound against the yen makes it bad news to import better buying one already in the country.

I 100% hear what your saying guys, but can any of you say you've seen any blob/hawk eyes in automatic? WRX's that is. I've seen plenty sports etc.

Can't really see any Blob/Hawks no.......a few Classics and a few Hatchbacks but nothing what you're looking at there.

It is possible to do it yourself through tradecarview but it maybe worth giving terrence @ autoadvan a shout if you haven't been down this route before.
