1.6 TS SPORTWAGON – ANY GOOD?

Can you help?

I'm a ScoobyNet virgin so forgive my lack of knowledge to anything Subaru related - which is why I'm asking for your help in this matter!

My partner and I are after a small estate and I have seen a 2002 (52 plate) Impreza 1.6 TS for sale and I need some info.

She has a VW Polo at the moment and is finding it too small with two little kiddies and the shopping!

Is this Subaru worth a consideration (it's a manual one owner with 40,000miles on the clock).

I've heard that they can be quite thirsty and expensive on parts - is this true? Is the AWD/4WD permanent or can it be switched between 2 and 4WD?

Any info would be much appreciated,

Cheers.

I'm not sure the 1.6 is AWD tbh.
if it is AWD then it is fixed/permanent.
They are thirsty even N/A and parts are dear as fook.

Personally there are many more useful estate cars than a naturally aspirated 1.6 impreza but if you want the image then go for it :thumb:

SLOW IS NOT THE WORD!!!!

Pretty slow, but if she jumps in one after a Polo 1.2 it won't feel slow, its permanent 4WD and will be pretty thirsty unfourtunatly due to the weight/4WD and the fact that Subaru engines have a naff bore/stroke relationship (hence why the new economy minded 1.5 retains the 2.5's stroke!)
