Sometimes it's nice to have a police car follow you...
 

So I was driving back to work from lunch heading into Central Milton Keynes..

I wasn't going fast but obviously using the RA so accelerating quickly which attracted the attention of the plod.

As I came off the A5 dual carriage way and merged with the slip road to head to my office I noticed a dozey driver on my right in one of those 1ft x 1ft box cars.

She obviously had her head in the clouds because I got a bit nervous when I noticed she was literally staring at the clouds and drifting into my lane, lo and behold the police car was also approaching on my left at this point.

Sure enough, she drove halfway into my lane forcing me to swerve into the path of the police car and then put my foot down and accelerate out of the danger area.

I beeped my horn and she was oblivous but said police car did the right thing and nicked her - hooray for democracy and all that!

I had a similar thing happen, cut up on the island and the copper pulled the car.

Had a similar thing happen to me. I was sitting in a queue at a traffic light and the car infront of me could not wait so used the slip entrance to my left and flew down to jump the queue of about 30 cars. The cop car behind me didn't like that so flew down after him and gave the driver a bollocking :)

I was at a roundabout in Derriford, Plymouth which is notorious for people jumping the lights, anyhoo, I was sitting at the lights with two police cars about to pull up next to me (one changed lanes to be behind me lol). Lights went green and off i popped, one car jumped amber easily, it was the next one that nearly t-barred me that scared the crap outta me but I REALLY love my brakes.

She looked at me in disgust and then carried on as I watched the police - both of them - turn off after her.

Dozy moo!!!!

Here in Inverness, they are used as straight overs or traverse three lanes to carry on straight.
if you miss your mind reading pill in the morning you will get damaged.
there is Shore street roundabout, daily i see cars go from lane 1 to 3 and back to 1 again.
If you come from the harbour onto it you are supposed to take lane 2 to go straight. i am the only person i know that does this. everybody goes into 3 then off onto 2, i even get beeped sometimes. the police even do it wrong.
how do i know i'm correct? it was in my driving test.

This is the main cause of accidents in the UK though.

The government keep harping on about it being speed, when it clearly isn't, it is bad driving, not 'fast' driving.

But much bad driving is also fast, unfortunately.

To an extent that is true.

I guess it follows a "Bell Curve" distribution

Too Slow is as bad as too Fast.

In fact - I reckon too slow is worse, as it has the effect of constricting flow and that is never a good thing.

Depends where you are really.

Saw an bloke dead in a new M3 today. All because he had a new toy and decided he had to overtake a car doing 30 (limit) around a blind corner in the wet.

Looks like he was doing about 95 in 30 from the evidence.

Thankfully no one else was hurt.

Surely thats not a case of too slow though, he was simply driving well above the sped limit... what annoys me is people doing 40 on an open stretch of 60mph A rd....... we get it a lot around bournemouth.. can't imagine why....

Most accidents I see are caused by people thinking they can drive well when they can't. And speed is the main cause of the myth of the driving skills of the injured or dead.

If I had my way I would make every learner pass a motorway test and have the middle lane issue we all see and hate a pass or fail thing. I'd also make driving in the middle lane of a 3+ lane road over a reasonable time a 6 point & £60 offence.

No, this particular stretch of road becomes 4 lanes, so I was almost boxed in by the police car on my left and the dozey cow on my right

...and for those who want to pass their driving test but live on Shetland? :wonder: Not sure there is even any dual carriageway up there! :)
