Did Subaru make a 1.6 Sport?

As above? and whats the difference between a 2.0 sport and a 2.0gl?

NAF 13 January 2009 10:13 PM

they made a 2WD 1.6 GL in the classic shape

I believe the 2.0 sport is the uk equivialent of the Irish market 2.0 GL

They did indeed make a 1.6 - I dont think it was ever called a Sport though, just a GL - was 2WD. AFAIK the 2.0 non turbo models were called the Sport in the classic shape, and they changed the name to 2.0GL when they stopped making the classic and bought out the new shape.

A 'Sport' was a 2litre GL blinged up to take advantage of the Turbos popularity and short availability. It was a UK only model specified by International Motors and sold at a greatly inflated price for what it was.

tbh the turbo was made because the sport is so popular ;-)

haha

The classic was available (UK) with 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 NA engines (it got 2.2 and 2.5 overseas), the 1.6 didn't last long (FWD only in saloon, 4WD in wagon), the sport as has been said was a tarted up 2.0GL with some turbo 'styling cues' (bumpers and spoilers with front fogs) so they could hike the price.

1.6 sport - no!
