Getting rid of setee?

is there any people that you can ring and they'l take it? i cant go to the tip as the new local rules state no vans.

and fly tipping is a :nono:

would a charity take it?

dave247 08 January 2009 08:33 PM

Set it alight in the back garden hahaha

Jamie 08 January 2009 08:35 PM

Take it to a charity shop in your van :)

AndyC_772 08 January 2009 08:36 PM

Fit castors and tow it to the tip with a car?

xdave 08 January 2009 08:41 PM

the council will take it , special rubbish collections ,

dpb 08 January 2009 08:42 PM

Wont they take the ole one away ?!!
if not cancel your contract- tell um youve found one half the price down the road ,

either that or take a sledge to it and fill up all those tescos carriers youve got hanging around :thumb:

You may laugh but my next door neighbour did that to two of his! :cuckoo:

The guy is a complete moron.

Oh, as said above, the council will come and pick it up for you. Probably cost you a tenner. :thumb:

Jaybird-UK 08 January 2009 08:45 PM

as above, ring the council. its a free service too

stara 08 January 2009 08:45 PM

But at least he is saving the environment by not leaving it to rot for millions of years in a landfill ;) :D

BTW our local council will take 3 bulky uplifts away per year for free, so it'd be an idea to give them a phone :thumb:

Unfortunately he's not because the remnants, wood and springs, are now rotting/rusting away in his garden. :cuckoo:

Dieseldog 08 January 2009 08:57 PM

hook it up to the back of the car, set it alight and tow it down the tip...

HTH

Kieran_Burns 08 January 2009 09:08 PM

If it has the fire resistant tag on the back you can give away to a charity. We gave an old one away to the YMCA. They came and picked it up free of charge, but it has to have the tag still attached.

kingofturds 08 January 2009 09:11 PM

Put it in the back garden next to the rusty ford cortina :D

Ant 08 January 2009 09:15 PM

Aaahhh ripped the tag off :( I'll get the missis to ring the council , cheers lads

Good ol' SN

He shoots! He misses!!! :D

hard luck - I breathed a sigh of relief when I realised I kept it on :)

Depending on how 'had it', FreeCycle is always worth a message.

Ant 08 January 2009 10:23 PM

the springs have had it , it was a cheap one for our first place lasted us 10 months , lesson learnt lol

Fuzz 08 January 2009 10:41 PM

Sledge hammer it up and shove it in the car... might find a few quid down the back of it while you're at it. :D

Proby521 08 January 2009 10:47 PM

I was gonna skip my old one just before Christmas. I put it on ebay for £1 stating collection only. Did not care if I only got a £1 as at least I would get rid of it. Bids upto £138 and they collected it within 2 days! If its totally shagged though......

StickyMicky 09 January 2009 08:25 AM

i got a huge hacksaw, chopped mine up into smaller parts and took it to the tip in the scoob LOL

MJW 09 January 2009 08:31 AM

I chopped ours up with an axe & took it to the tip

dpb 09 January 2009 08:38 AM

Just be careful of the bouce back :D :nono: ( with the springs and foam )

last one i did took ages for this reason

stoneface 09 January 2009 10:26 AM

I use my old one on the patio for seating and an old stained bed for a table.

fivetide 09 January 2009 10:33 AM

With the council collections - given you are limited on the number per year (or you are round our way) it can be a good time to pile up some other stuff you've been meaning to get rid of so as not to call them out several times and have them say no!

5t.

davegtt 09 January 2009 11:04 AM

The people delivering usually charge about £30 to take the old one away, they were gonna do this last month when my parents had a new one delivered, I just asked a Polish friend if he knew anyone who wanted it. 5 minutes later we had someone come round and take it away :D

OllyK 09 January 2009 11:08 AM

put it on freecycle, somebody will be round to take it off your hands in no time!

CrisPDuk 09 January 2009 11:26 AM

The last two we disposed of we gave to my ginger Stepson so that he could address some of his 'anger issues' :D

The any remains that couldn't be burned (via several friends with proper fires) went to the tip in a bin bag :)
