OEM RAD/CASS - LOST ALL RADIO RECEPTION ???
I have a 1993 WRX with an OEM fitment boggo radio/cassette. When I was parking up at work yesterday, all of a sudden Virgin Radio on 1215AM just 'disappeared' - one moment fine, next dead. :wonder: Just background hiss if the volume was turned up.
I thought that the transmitter mast might have been at fault and assumed that the station would be back when I left work at the end of the day to go home... but no, same problem. Basically, I can't get reception of any stations - either AM or FM. (I can only receive a few anyway due to it being the Jap's shifted narrow bands). When I got home, so as to rule out a local transmitter issue, I tuned into 1215AM (and other AM/FM stations) on my tuner indoors, and all is fine. Do you reckon that the aerial has lost it's connection into the back of the head unit? :wonder: It's weird, as the unit had been working fine up until then, since I first bought the car on 16th September 2006. How do you remove the unit? (can't see any obvious way and it's really tight). Anyone? |
To remove the stereo you have to remove the surround that has the gear gaiter attached to it as it has 2 arms that go either side of the centre console and stop just below the cup holder tray.

Ah, ta for that.
