ill

Anyone else suffering with with the following:

Since two weeks before xmas it started with a runny nose, then I would get a tickley throat. This would last a few days then I would feel fine. Then one night I'd develop the tickley throat again which would then get really sore and would feel like broken glass everytime I swallowed.

Today I am off work as I can't stop coughing and this morning I ached so much I couldn't get out of bed, I actually felt rather scared! Now I'm sitting up in bed, not aching as much but am physically exhaused from the constant coughing and am just thinking I may get up now and have a bath.

When does this end? my stomach muscles are killing me and my throat feels like I've coughed it away and quite frankly I've had enough!

The only good side to this is losing some weight :Whatever_

You've got a bad cold, have some Lemsip. :thumb:

stilover 05 January 2009 02:40 PM

Had a very bad cough and a cold 2 weeks before Christmas.

Cold went within a week. I still have the cough, though no where near as bad as it was.

Girlfriends little girl has just caught the Vomiting bug. Keeping away for a couple days.

If her bug is anything like mine, keep away for weeks, not days.

I thought I'd coughed a lung up last night. It's been the first time ever that I've taken time off work and not felt guilty about it. You've got my sympathies, but you can lay off my lemsip. ;)

I have a similar sounding thing. I have been to the Dr any she said it's just a nasty virus that a lot of people have.
In Women its like a heavy cold
In Men its a serious flu ;)

Last year I was laid up for 5 weeks. Didn't go to the quacks because of all the signs in the waiting room telling you not to waste their time with common colds and that antibiotics won't have any effect on them. Anyway, after 4 weeks I thought bollox to em' and made an appointment. Quack told me I had 'quite a sizable chest infection and an ear infection, you're one of the few that should have come immediately'. A week and a course of antibiotics later I was fit as a fiddle.
How are you supposed to know? You could always give the NHS line a call and see what they reckon.

Hope you start feeling better soon. :thumb:

Yeah I'm the same, very rarely go to the doctors but getting sick of being alright one minute and on the deaths door the next. Apart from a cough now, my throat has gone and I feel fine! This has been going on for weeks now.

Just gets me down :(

You have the dreaded lurgi

Julz1983 05 January 2009 05:35 PM

Had the same myself, before xmas had a constant cold and a cough that would be there one minute and gone the next, some nights I was awake ALL night coughing and the next day I would be aching and could hardly move, went on like that for a few weeks, then my daughter got the sickness bug, hers cleared up and thought I'd avoided it until a Saturday night I just could not stop being sick, once the sickness stopped I was worn out and rough for a few days and guess what? The cough came back!!! Had it again on and off for about a week, fingers crossed it has now gone!

Hubby managed to avoid all of it! Which was a god send actually, nowt worse than man flu

I am indeed. I believe several of the females on here have photographic evidence to confirm it. If you ask the right ones nicely, they may provide you with it :Suspiciou

I recommend Vodka & Lemsip :thumb:

Aw poor Lou! It's the weather, freezing cold and constantly going from warm to cold doesn't help. Plus I hope you're wearing them thermals.

I'm sure you're ill enough without having my mug splashed all over SN.

Unless you plan to induce vomitting :p
