Candida - Any sufferers on here?

I recently had an allergy test due to having issues with certain foods. My results basically showed that I had problems with quite a number of foods that I was not aware of. She also said that I had a lot of yeast in my liver that pointed to a condition known as 'Candida'. To help the problem, she has suggested a radical change in my diet over the next four weeks. My problem is, I am quite a fussy eater and I am struggling to find meals that I am actually going to enjoy.

Has anyone on here ever suffered from Candida and do you know any good recipes that allow you to keep your sanity! :thumb:

Any help appreciated.

Drink a lot of high strength alcohol, e.g. scotch, vodka etc, this will kill off the yeast :D

Gear Head 05 January 2009 12:07 PM

Well thank you for your help! :D

Yep :thumb:

The correct medical name is "livermingeitis" however it is also known as "songbirdfannyliver"

No need to panic though (unless you become moody, irratable, start get flushes etc etc) :D

I don't know any sufferers, but it would look like you need to cut out yeast. If you are as fussy as me, that would be really difficult, as it is in way more than you'd think.

I think some supermarkets have sections where you can get 'free from' foods, might be worth a look to see what's available. Also, could your doctor not refer you to a dietician to give you some more specific advice on what to avoid, and more importantly what you can eat/drink.

sarasquares 05 January 2009 01:38 PM

can you put yoghurt on your liver? :D

Tell me about it, bloody freezing at the moment :D

As for the actual issue at hand. It's possible a liver cleanse might help, you could have a read of this for something to make and try.

I did a quick google to see if there were any oral medications available and it seems most are for thrush, and I'm not sure if they'd help you at all, and some mention "possible liver damage" as a possible side-effect, so I'd say it might not be a good move, and I'd have thought the doctor may have suggested medication if it were needed/wanted.

I haven't looked into this fully but I reckon you are being taken for a mug

. The term candida when used by non medical practioners (ie alternate therapy types) seems to be a made up term based on conjecture with no basis in science or clinical trials, and no firm criteria for diagnoses.

I'd love to know how she even diagnosed this 'fungal overgrowth' in your liver ie blood tests? ultrasound? liver biopsy? MRI scan?

sarasquares 05 January 2009 03:42 PM

you can test liver function and health etc with a blood test so i would assume that it can be diagnosed

Why not just get your liver jet washed? I'm sure someone on the internet will do it. And we all know that everything on the internet is bona fide and based on good science rather than just trying to fleece you of a few quid:thumb:

I treat people with Candida Albicans of the mouth (under dentures) but it has no other systemic effects.

If you do actually have a candidal infection of internal organs then you are virtually a corpse with no immune system :(

Unless she proved this with a liver biopsy, she is a charlatan.

Invite her on here to defend herself, will be very entertaining :D

My Life is plagued with people who think they are suffering from "amalgam allergy" ......they read sites like this..............

Phases

Funny, this site mentions "candida" too LOL

"charlatan" is a good word from Dr Banks :D

Hi Deep

Just a small rant but programs like 10 years younger, extreme makeover, the Daily Mail health page etc. and the like take up a huge amount of my time...

I get 26 pence a head per year (give or take the odd decimal point and creative accounting) to look after the patients on my patch ..

Now back to the real world..

And I don't mean a light walk either. I have to run for atleast 25-30 minutes. Basically, if I sweat and basically flush my skin through, I don't get the rash. If I don't do this for 2-3 days, when go from a cold to hot enviroment, the rash will start to appear again. Obviously, this is more of a problem in the winter.

Anyone like to hazard a guess?
