Fitting FMIC without Remap
Now i know there was a argument on here about the above, but what was the outcome and end result?
is charge temperature measured before or after the intercooler, and i will be getting a remap later this month, but will it be ok to get it fitted int the meantime, as wont have much time in middle of month to do so. |
It could run dangerously lean or run pig rough at the least.

Just be careful how you,re driving until the map has been done....I.E boost..

will have a crazy rough car for a while then. recently fitted tubular headers aswel without a remap.. so its gona get interesting. also can i fit a walboro, or will that cause it to run rich |
Fit the pump just before the mapping session, who,s mapping it for you??

Im currently running in my built 2.5 with Gt spec headers, bigger turbo and aps dr725. None of these mods were on the car before althought the car was mapped at circa 380 bhp.
As said above you *should* have no problems providing you keep it in the low load zones I.E off or very low boost. I would have someone check your A/F's when running low load to ensure your corrections are not to wild and the ecu can cope with the changes (ECU can add or subtract 25% fuel max) If you have access to logging equipment like DD you can check this. otherwise worth getting someone to look at it as Dynamix says incase you get into lean running conditions Fitting a walbro will not alter the amount of fuel you will get as the fuel pressure regulator will adjust for that. My car runs ok but if you blip the throttle on idle it dies. Bit of a pain for run in but livable with as i dont live anywhere near any mappers. Hope this helps Colin |
I would fit the pump now, give the FPR time to settle down (advise from AF) I fitted a frontmount, 550's, ported headers etc and drove it 200 miles for Andy F to remap and it was fine - just keep it out of the boost.

I fitted a FMIC to a L plate WRX a good 6-8 months back... Still take on some work on Scoobies even though the Type R has gone :norty:
It was checked on wideband after the FMIC was fitted and is running fine... No running issues whatsoever... Worth checking I suppose, but there was no need for a remap on this car... :thumb: |
ok going to be fitting the warlboro shortly then, will the standard fpr be ok running with a warlboro?
Geff from RE:WORX - Mazda RX7 Specialists, Dyno Testing and Tuning & Parts for most High Performance cars will be doing the map. got HKS F CONS ecu so need a authorised dealer. they're in portsmouth, from bournemouth thats not too far. they specialise in mazda rx7's though. am i likley to get a crap map on my imp, as they are rx7 specialsits, or should they be able to map most cars well? |
You can run a walbro on the standard FPR, i do, you just need to map round it.
As for fitting the FMIC and needing a map, i have just piped up the FMIC on my car after staying with a STi5 TMIC for ages and all the WOT areas of the map needed richening up a bit as they were a bit lean. It was fine up to about 12psi / 0.8Bar but at 14psi / 1Bar it would get sparkly and det at 5k rpm on the TMIC map. So if you stick to very low boost and drive it careful you should be fine. As a precaution just run the turbo at actuator pressure to help you out, should not boost too much then. Dan. |
