Diff bearings

Hi guys.I have developed a slight wering noise comming from the back end of the car .I have ruled out wheel bearings after jacking up and giving them a shake, nearside driveshaft seems a little more worn than the offside but nothing too drastic so my next port of call is may be the diff bearings. Oil is okay as I serviced the car only 300 mile ago.Can anyone shed any light on the problem or as anyone els had the same trouble? Andy:wonder:

yep probably is the bearing, Jacking up and shacking doesnt work as the driveshaft holds the bearing tight. You need to undo the centre drive shaftnut on each wheel and then check for play.

I had a wering for months and checked everything going. ended up changing the rear wheel bearings although they showed no sign of play at all. when they were removed they were totally dry of grease. No bearings fitted and no noise now for 3 months

oh and if its rears your checking i dont want to teach you to suck eggs but make sure the handbrake is off.
